Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah noted in a post on X that days after calling for the abolition of the Transportation Security Administration, he was subjected to a pat-down. "Update: days after calling to abolish TSA, I got 'randomly selected' for the needlessly slow, thorough TSA screening & patdown. Maybe it's a coincidence. Or not. Impossible to know. That's part of the problem with having a federal agency in charge of airport security," Lee wrote in a Thursday post on X. In a Monday post, Lee, who has served in the Senate since early 2011, called for nixing the...

The Nation is honoring this year’s Thanksgiving by featuring a debate over whether America should keep celebrating the national holiday or not. One side is claiming it is “steeped in colonialism, violence, and misrepresentation” and needs to be “decolonized,” while the other goes further, describing Thanksgiving as a “lie” that should be completely abolished and replaced with a “Truthsgiving,” where Americans can “give thanks by… giving land back.”

Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced legislation Tuesday that would abolish the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for reportedly pushing issues such as abortion, gender equity programs and climate alarmism abroad. The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the legislation, which is related to a May 10, 2022 Heritage Foundation report that found USAID was using U.S. taxpayer dollars to push far-left ideology.

I am a fan of Roger Simon. His articles are great examples of the Tom Paine tradition in American political writing. Yes, he writes as a citizen speaking common sense to his fellow citizens, but he gives us more to like. His every sentence displays his American sensibility. He writes as an American citizen speaking common sense to his fellow Americans. In his recent article, he calls for the abolition of the FBI. His first words: "The FBI was a bad idea from its start." Not only is he right about that, but his thinking about what was wrong with...

Special counsel John Durham on Monday released his report on the FBI’s role in investigating the 2016 Donald Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia. This investigation, codenamed “Crossfire Hurricane,” had been—according to Durham’s report—”swiftly” opened as a full-blown investigation in response to “unevaluated intelligence information” by FBI personnel “without ever having spoken to the persons who provided the information.”Durham shows that the investigation had been pushed forward largely by FBI agent Peter Strzok, a man known to be politically hostile to candidate Trump. Durham also notes a curious difference between the FBI’s enthusiasm for investigating Trump, and the agency’s more...

So the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is celebrating its 20th birthday—the perfect opportunity to rethink the whole concept of "homeland security" and how to best provide it. DHS has grown into a monster that is massively expensive, incredibly ineffective, and reliably destructive of basic civil liberties. It's time to abolish it and replace it with fewer, smaller, and more accountable agencies. In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, President George W. Bush called for the creation of a new cabinet-level department "whose primary mission is to protect the American homeland." By pulling border security, emergency services, and immigration into...

Former President Donald Trump revealed Saturday that he plans to shut down the Department of Education if he retakes the White House in 2024. Axing the Department of Education is part of an education platform Mr. Trump will announce on March 13, he told reporters at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “It’s time,” Mr. Trump said. “Close it up. When you look at the list of countries, we’re always at the bottom [on education]. We spend more money per pupil and we’re always at the bottom of a list of 40 countries. And we should close it up and let...

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) threatened to abolish a slew of federal agencies such as the FBI and the Justice Department, accusing top officials of using their government offices for political aims. In a speech addressing supporters at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, Gaetz defended his efforts to stall Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) speakership vote in January until House Republicans could negotiate some rules changes from the party leader. One such concession was the creation of a committee examining the “Weaponization of the Federal Government,” which was a key demand of several of McCarthy’s holdouts. “It seems like every...

Republicans in the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), eliminate the national income tax, and replace it with a national consumption tax. Fox News Digital has learned that the House will be voting on Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter's reintroduced Fair Tax Act that aims to reel in the IRS and remove the national income tax, as well as other taxes, and replace them with a single consumption tax. The vote on the bill was made as part of the deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and members of...

A DFL candidate who has the support of some of the party’s top officials wants to abolish the police and defended rioting during a June speech. Leigh Finke won the DFL nomination for House District 66A in August and will likely win November’s election in the solidly-blue district. Finke, who is transgender, previously worked for the ACLU, authored a guide for “LGBTQ+ Christian teens,” served on the Stonewall DFL board, and produced a documentary called “White Savior,” which explores “racism in the American church.” Finke repeatedly called for abolishing the police throughout 2021, according to Facebook screenshots provided to Alpha...

Historically, the problem with the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not been one of leadership but of culture. Directors come and go; the culture remains. That culture is one of “us versus them,” very insular, functioning under its own unwritten rules. There are periodic calls for reform, but these are Band-Aids covering a serious gunshot wound. As an experienced criminal defense lawyer, I’ve concluded that the FBI must be abolished and its duties assigned to a new agency. Consider an example from my own law practice....

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Thursday is introducing a bill to abolish Section 230 — the law the protects online platforms from liability — on the heels of Twitter accepting Elon Musk’s offer to buy the company and take it private. Greene’s bill would eliminate the law making online platforms not liable for content posted by third parties and replace it with a provision to require “reasonable, non-discriminatory access to online communications platforms” through a “common carrier” framework that Greene compared to airlines or package delivery services.

If California is ever going to achieve true equity, the state must require parents to give away their children. Today’s Californians often hold up equity — the goal of a just society completely free from bias — as our greatest value. Gov. Gavin Newsom makes decisions through “an equity lens.” Institutions from dance ensembles to tech companies have publicly pledged themselves to equity...

Dozens of students at the University of Florida said the U.S. Constitution should be abolished and even signed a petition to do away with it. "It should be abolished," one student told Campus Reform in a man on the street-style interview published Thursday. "It’s time for a new Constitution." "The time period was rich old white men and that's exactly what that document says, and stands for and vouches for," another student added when asked if the Constitution is a symbol of the patriarchy.
