Furthering California’s long-standing collaboration with China on climate change, Governor Gavin Newsom today renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance ongoing cooperation on initiatives to protect the environment, reduce carbon emissions and air pollution, and promote clean energy development. The Governor and China’s Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu signed the MOU in a virtual meeting joined by Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, who serves as the Governor’s Representative for International Affairs and Trade Development, and senior climate officials from California and China.

The Biden Border Rush continues and looks to get even worse with the scheduled termination of Title 42 on May 23 (as if it’s not bad enough already). The administration of Texas Governor Greg Abbott is fighting back with Operation Lone Star and is creating Texas’ own border policy. Drastic times call for drastic measures. The governor of California, Jerry Brown, announced Saturday that his state would join the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg in a sister-state relationship with the goal of strengthening climate protection and economic ties between the two. The sister-state agreement comes at the tail end of a global climate summit, organized by Brown, which attracted thousands of politicians, activists, business leaders and others from around the world. The premier of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, joined Brown at the summit in San Francisco for the signing of the agreement. […] “The German connection is alive and well in California,” Brown said. “The fact...

When Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull arrives in Washington this week for consultations with President Donald Trump, he won’t be traveling solo. Turnbull is bringing the most senior Australian political and business delegation ever to visit the United States in a trip aimed at building stronger relationships with America’s governors. While he’ll talk trade and security concerns with Trump, Turnbull will spend the weekend courting U.S. governors at their annual gathering. Turnbull, a Goldman Sachs executive-turned prime minister, is the latest world leader to extend outreach to U.S. governors and big-city mayors in the age of Trump’s “America First” policies....

Given the levels of illegal migration and narco-trafficking across its southern border, the State of Arizona deserves America's commendation for the remarkable restraint it has exhibited in dealing with what has become a most serious international and domestic problem. Arizona Senate Bill 1070, signed into law by Governor Janice K. Brewer on April 23, 2010, is a tiptoe exercise through an immigration minefield. In its essence, however, the law demands roughly no more of an individual than is required to open an account at the local video store. Indeed, the law presumes that one is not an alien who is...
