Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear was excoriated by his Republican challengers over the weekend for choosing to veto a bill that would ban gender transition surgeries for minors, prohibit school discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity, and prevent teachers from being forced to use a student's preferred pronouns. The bill, SB 150, was passed by state lawmakers along party lines earlier this month before heading to Beshear's desk last week. "As a mother and grandmother, I think the fact that we’re even having this conversation is insanity," Republican candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Kelly Craft said in a statement....

The day after Kentucky lawmakers rapidly changed and passed a bill to include measures banning gender-affirming care for minors, the state’s top education official decried the “sweeping and harmful” legislation. Kentucky Education Commissioner Jason Glass said the latest version of Senate Bill 150 “contains provisions that will put our young people at risk, have the government interfere with decisions between doctors, patients and families and puts Kentucky at the front of a series of similar hateful, ignorant and shameful efforts around the country.” In the fall, the Kentucky Department of Education will host a “summit in support of LGBTQIA+ people...

A transgender protester injected herself to gasps during a meeting where she and others opposed plans to ban so-called gender affirming care for children. The unnamed woman, who had blue hair and horn-rimmed glasses, declared: 'I was once a trans youth, and now I'm a happy 22-year-old trans adult... this is my healthcare, don't tread on it.' She proudly produced the syringe, then stuck the needle into her arm and pushed the plunger, to an audible gasp from an unseen eyewitness at the hearing in Tallahassee earlier this week. It's unclear what was in the syringe, although many transgender people...

I like Drew Barrymore and have enjoyed her movies a lot from time to time. I don’t know a ton about her, but I do know she had a rough time growing up and being part of a storied Hollywood family, she had drug and alcohol addiction problems, was exploited, even attempted suicide, and just in general had a hard time finding her way in life. Fortunately, she overcame all that and became a successful actress, producer, and talk show host. She’s also the mother of two young daughters. Unfortunately, however, Drew did a bad thing on her talk...

A certain political intelligence (take a wild guess what kind) leads to brilliant hashtags and hilarious entrepreneurship. Last Wednesday marked day one of Women’s History Month, an annual occasion described by the official website as a “national celebration” to commend the value and contributions of the female sex upon society. In the movement’s own words: Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as ‘Women’s History Month.’ These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history...

Speaking about her claims Thursday night, Reed said doctors would use questions like 'Do you want a dead daughter or an alive son?' to suggest to parents of children seeking sex-transitions...

After years of being a mediocre swimmer on the men’s team, Thomas woke up one morning and identified as transgender, transitioned, joined the women’s team, and started breaking records against his female teammates and tournament competitors.
