White House staffers have blamed President Joe Biden's dog Commander's biting problems on the unfriendly expressions of Secret Service agents. The 2-year-old German Shepherd reportedly had his 11th bite of one of the president's key protectors just last week - but is said to be pleasant around West Wing staff. Secret Service emails obtained by Judicial Watch in July revealed the dog had bitten or threatened at least 10 people, making this the 11th incident involving it. According to those on Biden's staff, Commander's behavior around the Secret Service doesn't make any sense to them. Some have suggested that while...

WASHINGTON — President Biden’s nearly two-year-old German shepherd Commander bit seven people in a four-month period after former first dog Major was ousted from the White House over similar aggressive behavior, according to internal Secret Service communications reviewed by The Post. The shocking spate of incidents involving Commander — none of them previously known — mirror attacks involving Major, who the White House says was given to family friends after biting many Secret Service members in 2021. In the most serious documented incident involving Commander, the White House physician’s office on Nov. 3, 2022, referred a bitten Secret Service uniformed...

Until this past weekend, Nadia Baranchuk, MD, an emergency medicine physician at Northwell Health on Long Island, had never treated a shark bite victim -- or even seen one -- in her 10-year career. But this July 4, she treated two shark bite victims in a single afternoon. Luckily, both patients could walk and didn't need an ambulance to bring them to the emergency room. While shark attacks remain exceedingly rare, Long Island makes up a significant portion of East Coast cases. Last year, there were five bites in a 2-week period, and this weekend, there were at least two...

Assuming it was just a harmless lesion, he took himself to get a tetanus shot and a course of antibiotics, the Tampa Bay Times reported. However, three days later, Adams could barely walk. The 52-year-old returned to Florida Northside Hospital...

Researchers at Rockefeller University in New York found people who have higher levels of certain acids on their skin are 100 times more attractive to the female Aedes aegypti, the type of mosquito responsible for spreading diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever and Zika. The findings, published Tuesday in the journal Cell, could lead to new products that could mask or alter certain human odors, making it harder for mosquitoes to find human blood and potentially curbing the spread of disease. SNIP Experts have found people seem to become more attractive to mosquitoes when they're pregnant or after they've...

Every autumn in recent years our boreal neighbors in Sweden and Norway have regaled the rest of the world with tales of drunken moose. The online magazine Slate called the news brief issued by Radio Sweden "the best thing on the Internet today." Sweden and Norway have lots of moose and loads of apple trees. Alaska has fewer moose and a paucity of...
