A Florida man was bitten in the arm by an alligator Thursday while washing his hands in a pond, according to the City of Sanibel.
Fortunately, the man was able to break free from the alligator and call 911. People on the scene of the attack applied a tourniquet until EMS workers arrived, officials said in a statement.
He sustained a serious injury on his right arm and was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to officials.
Florida Fish and Wildlife along with the Florida State trapper are actively attempting to capture the alligator at the pond.
There have been several alligator attacks nationwide this year that have killed or injured victims.

Once again, for those who have been living under a rock:
It’s Florida. Do. Not. Go. In. Or. Near. The. Bodies. Of. Water!
Is that realistic, them hoping to find the same gator that bit his arm, hours ago?
Do aggressive gators tend to return to the site of a recent attack? Maybe that’s what is expected.

An alligator bit my arm!
Which one?
I don’t know, all those alligators look alike to me.
Yeah right,
What a croc!
Good thing he wasn’t peeing into the pond.
It’s Florida!!! Gators are part of the playing field!!!
BTW...so are snakes, scorpions and jellyfish (not to mention Portugese Man of War!!!
Duh!
In the 1960s to 1980s you could swim in East Texas in the lakes and rivers. We used to camp on the Neches River and skied in local lakes. Never saw an alligator. Now they are everywhere. One even showed up in my one acre pond. I guess he just walked miles to visit. I hate alligators. They need to be treated the same as wild pigs. Kill them and there is no season.

Gators got to eat same as buzzards and maggots.
Ouch!

Back in the 60’s in Florida gators near people were “eliminated”.
Those not near people were afraid of people. I am living proof having spent a lot of my youth swimming in rivers, lakes and ponds containing gators.
AMEN!! Alligators are in almost EVERY damn little body of water.....except our pond/lake.

Correction:
Gators gotta eat same as the worms and buzzards. ;-)
Hoomanz is on the menu tonight!
That’s why you should never go skinny dipping in Florida ponds.
The victim was later identified as one Amos Moses, late of Thibodaux, Louisiana.
