Where is the liberal outrage that was so much in evidence over the Patriot Act, now that the Transportation and Safety Administration is feeling up old women and taking naked pictures of children? Maybe I missed it, but I’ve scanned the headlines and can’t find the stories of anyone in Congress with a D after his name castigating Barack Obama over the administration’s policy to molest Americans who have the nerve to get on an airplane and go visit grandpa.

Naked body scanners cost taxpayers $734,000 each and the DHS plans to spend $734 million in FY2011 to purchase another 1,000 scanners. Contrary to what Janet Napolitano is telling us, the naked scans can be saved, stored and disseminated via the internet. Amid backlash by some over security measures within airports, a Tennessee pilot is adding to the outcry. Michael Roberts, a pilot with ExpressJet Airlines, is now filing a lawsuit over TSA body scanners. Roberts says they’re challenging the Constitutionality of the new policies under the Fourth Amendment, which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures.

The scans are not from the "naked scan" machines that the Department of Homeland Security announced were going into 28 airports in the country, earlier this year. Instead, they are much more pixelated and less embarrassing.Still Gizmodo points to TSA's Advanced Imaging Technology's privacy policy, which states that the machines "cannot store, print, transmit or save the" images and that they are "automatically deleted from the system after it is cleared by the remotely...

But come November 24th, here's an idea you might try to make the day extra-special. It's a one-word idea: Kilts. Think about it -- if you're a male, and you want to bollix-up the nonsensical airport security-industrial complex, one way to do so would be to wear a kilt. If nothing else, this will cause TSA employees to throw up their hands in disgust. If you want to go the extra extra mile, I suggest commando-style kilt-wearing. While it is probably illegal to fly without pants, I can't imagine that it's illegal to fly without underpants.

Despite many promises from federal agencies to the contrary it seems that some of those “naked” body scanners can and have stored images. In fact the US Marshal Service admitted to storing tens of thousands of those images at a single courthouse in Florida. In order to prove these “naked” body scan images could be made public Gizmodo.com, a tech blog, filed a FOIA request and received 100 of them. Airport Security Just Brilliant Here's the solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the Airports: Set up a reinforced booth that you can step into that will not x-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on your body. If you plan on flying anytime soon make sure you prepare yourself, and your children, to be put in extremely uncomfortable situations. That is, of course, disturbing. The TSA chose Meg McLain for special screening. They wanted her to go through the new porno-scanners. When she opted out, TSA agents raised an enormous ruckus. When she asked some question about what they planned to do to her, they flipped out. TSA agents yelled at her, handcuffed her to a chair, ripped up her ticket, called in 12 local Miami cops and finally escorted her out of the airport. For the last few years, federal agencies have defended body scanning by insisting that all images will be discarded as soon as they're viewed. The Transportation Security Administration claimed last summer, for instance, that "scanned images cannot be stored or recorded." Now it turns out that some police agencies are storing the controversial images after all. The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse.

Peer-through-the-clothing body scanners will be deployed to Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport in August, part of enhanced passenger screening to detect hidden weapons and liquid explosives, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Tuesday. Ten more U.S. airports are getting new scanners capable of detecting explosives like those carried by the alleged Christmas Day bomber, an administration official said Friday. The new machines at airports including Boston’s Logan, Chicago’s O’Hare and Charlotte’s Douglas will take full body scans of airline passengers and can detect explosives hidden under clothing.
