BEAST week has been a major part of basic military training since 2006, and offered airmen the chance to go on a mock-deployment where trainees sleep in cots, go on ruck marches, work on security protocol and weapons training, and fight simulated threats. But Pixley, who assumed command of Basic Military Training in 2021, decided that BEAST week was outdated for some of the modern Air Force's needs. As the Department of the Air Force pushes its new philosophy of establishing "multi-capable airmen" -- meaning it wants to have troops able to take on more responsibilities so they can carry...

Does an obscure document, hidden among the hundreds of documents released recently from Iraq and Afghanistan, provide evidence linking Al Qaeda operative Ramzi Yousef to the Oklahoma City attack on the MurrahBuilding? The Arabic-language handwritten document, numbered AFGP-2002-801138, and available at http://www.ctc.usma.edu/aq/AFGP-2002-801138-Orig.pdf , contains a series of pages that were written in what appears to be some sort of daily planner. The daily planner appears to be a standard daily calendar/agenda book, containing a daily calendar for the year 2000. The dates within the calendar are in English, and have the Islamic dates for each day as well. The planner...

We Make Marines,” proclaims a banner at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, summarizing the service’s ethos that recruits have to prove they have the mental and physical toughness to serve in the Corps by surviving boot camp. By the time men and women receive their Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, they have proven that they have the physical and mental toughness to earn the coveted title of “Marine.”But Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David Berger wants “exceptionally talented Americans” to be able to bypass the Corps’ traditional rites of passage and begin serving “at a rank appropriate to their...

New Marine Commandant: There Will 'Definitely' Be More Coed Companies at Boot Camp The Marine Corps will continue looking at ways for men and women to train together at both of its recruit depots, the service's new top general said, even though one of the bases is currently closed to women. Men and women will "definitely" train in the same companies at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina, Commandant Gen. David Berger said this week. About 50 women recently graduated from a typically all-male training battalion there in March. But hurdles remain when it comes to integrating...

The Black Lives Matter group had a protest march in Oakland, Calif., July 21, and a number of the participants were little children. They’d been trained in social activism at something called the “Abundant Beginnings” summer camp. One of the youngest was a 3-year old little girl, Jonnie-mae Taylor of Berkeley, who led the chant: “What do you want?” The response was “Justice!” She asked, “When do you want it?” The response: “Now!” Mind you, she is 3 years old. This child was one of some 20 who attended that camp to be trained in “social responsibility and justice.” One...

Much of this is intended simply to anger us and break our will to resist. We need to understand that fact. The whole transgendered bathroom nonsense is a classic example A thought occurred to me the other day, which does actually happen to me now and then; the whole of modern culture, the political correctness, the way the left approaches the rest of us, is very much a kind of boot camp for communism. The purpose of military boot camp is to break down the individual, to wed him to the group, to get him to believe things and do...

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus has given Marine Corps brass two weeks to submit a plan to train male and female recruits together at boot camp and fully integrate officer candidate school. He's also calling for the Marines to make all job titles gender-neutral as the service opens currently closed ground combat jobs to women. In a Jan. 1 memo obtained by Military.com and first reported by Marine Corps Times, Mabus ordered the Corps to send him a detailed plan by Jan. 15 for making boot camp and officer training coed. He also requested that the Marines provide him with a...

The Canadian teen charged in connection with a fatal Miami shooting is eligible for a county boot-camp program that would spare him significant time in jail, a court heard on Monday. Now, Miami-Dade prosecutors must decide if they will allow 15-year-old Marc Wabafiyebazu to enter the program as punishment for his role in a botched drug rip-off that left his older brother and another teen shot to death in March.

A Sun-Times survey of thousands of pages of court records found that since 2006, Cook County judges have handed down hundreds of improper boot camp sentences to violent felons. Simons’ case ended in tragedy. Less than two years after he was sent to the four-month boot camp program, Simons was charged with murdering Kermit Delashment II, a 21-year-old college student with big dreams. Delashment’s death was the 500th killing of 2008 in Chicago. In all, 17 armed robbers got such a break during that period in Cook County. After their release from the program, 12 of those 17 men were...

"Learn to write software in 9 weeks? New coding boot camps promise to launch tech careers" _______________________________________________ SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Looking for a career change, Ken Shimizu decided he wanted to be a software developer, but he didn't want to go back to college to study computer science. Instead, he quit his job and spent his savings to enroll at Dev Bootcamp, a new San Francisco school that teaches students how to write software in nine weeks. The $11,000 gamble paid off: A week after he finished the program last summer, he landed an engineering job that paid more...

Basic Combat Training is getting ready for some major changes to reflect the modern battlefield, said Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, deputy commanding general for Initial Military Training. Hertling, who is responsible for managing the training of Soldiers from the day they enter the Army until they report to their first duty assignments, made his remarks last week during a visit to Fort Jackson, the largest of the Army's five basic training centers. "We really took a look at the relevancy of what we're doing," Hertling said. "We're teaching Soldiers too much stuff." One of the changes Hertling wants to implement...

IntegrityDear Spirit and Life readers,One of my most memorable experiences in Marine Corps boot camp was the lesson of integrity. Certain infractions of the strict code of discipline were considered "integrity violations" such as lying or undermining the chain of command, etc. We all implicitly understood that term to mean the breaking of rules of conduct or ethics that bind men together for the common mission. We did our best to avoid committing any violations of integrity, not merely to avoid penalties, but more so because we sought to form ourselves as honorable, trustworthy men deserving of our uniforms.Ironically, the...

In Korea, a boot camp cure for Web obsession By Martin Fackler Sunday, November 18, 2007 MOKCHEON, South Korea: The compound — part boot camp, part rehab center — resembles programs around the world for troubled youths. Drill instructors drive young men through military-style obstacle courses, counselors lead group sessions, and there are even therapeutic workshops on pottery and drumming. But these young people are not battling alcohol or drugs. Rather, they have severe cases of what many in this country believe is a new and potentially deadly addiction: cyberspace. They come here, to the Jump Up Internet Rescue School,...

It's a True Crime post and we must explore that verdict on the so-called Boot camp case. There's been an arrest in the murder of one of the two sisters, both dead in the same house and within a week of each other. The perp was arrested for killing his wife but did he kill her sister too? Some info on the naked man in Times Square, a good Samaritan leaves a dangerous unknown substance at the scene and was the child molested on the airplane or is someone looking for a payoff?
