International House of Pancakes has created a stir by saying that after being IHOP for 60 years, it is "flippin' our name to IHOb" — setting off speculation over what that mysterious b could signify. For now, the company isn't saying. IHOP promises to reveal the meaning on June 11.But the Internet isn't big on waiting. Hungry for answers, people responded to the cryptic tweets: Could it be breakfast? Biscuits? Brunch? The improbable bancakes? Simply, and minimally, bacon? The on-trend bitcoin? Those are a few of the more popular guesses on IHOP's Twitter feed, in a thread that's littered with...

The Obama Foundation is trying to generate as much public support as possible ahead of the city of Chicago's first municipal vote to approve construction permits that would allow the Obama Presidential Center to be built on historic parkland. The foundation's chief engagement officer, Michael Strautmanis, emailed "friends" of the project late last week asking them to show up at City Hall at 5 a.m. Thursday to demonstrate to city officials that local residents are behind it. Attendees were told to pick up Obama swag — T-shirts and buttons — from the organization's local headquarters ahead of Thursday. Although the...

Move aside hourglass, there's a new marshmallow in town. Lucky Charms has unveiled its first new marshmallow in 10 years - the magical unicorn! Earlier this month, General Mills announced it was retiring the hourglass marshmallow. Lucky Charms then asked social media users to vote on which marshmallow they would like to see next - by answering with an emoji... And, sure enough, the newest marshmallow is also an emoji - the unicorn.

THE saying goes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day — but apparently only if you eat the right thing. Those hoping to hear the full English is the way forward will be sorely disappointed too. According to William Cole, who specialises in nutrition, what we should be eating first thing is a little more unusual. He told Mind, Body, Green that a breakfast crammed with fat is the key to maintaining energy levels throughout the day, and eating this way will make you more productive.

I have to admit it. I love me some IHOP pancakes. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to eat at restaurants, though itÂ’s funny, because IÂ’m normally a savory foods girl. I like to order chicken fried steak, bacon or eggs. BUT thereÂ’s always an exception when we go to IHOP. I always get their pancakes. They are amazeballs! I found this copycat version from a blog off Pinterest and read all the reviews. They were all great and everyone said they loved them. Some commented they were better than IHOPÂ’s. So that was the seller to me. I...

One of my favorite meals growing up was Saturday breakfast, which was usually served at more of a brunch hour. Sometimes it would be eggs, bacon or sausage, and hominy fried in the grease from the meat (which I loved, and if anyone has recipes for canned hominy, please post!). Or it might be waffles, or pancakes; and when it snowed, Cinnamon Toast, and tea or hot chocolate. Many years ago I found a recipe that makes a great, quick brunch casserole at home – if you remember to grate the cheese the night before and store it airtight in...

The AP review of Clinton's calendar — her after-the-fact, official chronology of the events of her four-year term — identified at least 75 meetings with longtime political donors and loyalists, Clinton Foundation contributors and corporate and other outside interests that were either not recorded or listed with identifying details scrubbed. The AP found the omissions by comparing the 1,500-page document with separate planning schedules supplied to Clinton by aides in advance of each day's events. The names of at least 114 outsiders who met with Clinton were missing from her calendar, the records show...

Tiny Toast is designed to appeal to younger, health-conscious consumers because it's one of the few breakfast cereal on the market flavored with real fruit and has no high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or colors. It will join the Minnesota-based company's already formidable lineup of cereals that have been part of American breakfasts for decades such as Cheerios, Trix and Lucky Charms.

Few things are as painless to prepare as cereal. Making it requires little more than pouring something (a cereal of your choice) into a bowl and then pouring something else (a milk of your choice) into the same bowl. Eating it requires little more than a spoon and your mouth. The food, which Americans still buy $10 billion of annually, has thrived over the decades, at least in part, because of this very quality: Its convenience. And yet, for today's youth, cereal isn't easy enough. On Monday, the New York Times published a story about the breakfast favorite, and the...

President Barack Obama relayed two stories during the National Prayer Breakfast which compared Chicago residents to Nazis. The president spoke about a story he learned of at a ceremony at the Israeli Embassy where he gave remarks honoring individuals who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. The president later compared that story to Chicago Muslim father and his children praying one day after the San Bernardino shooting: A week ago, I spoke at a ceremony held at the Israeli Embassy for the first time, honoring the courage of people who saved Jews during the Holocaust. And one of the recipients was...

The fast-food breakfast wars are upon us. With McDonald's starting all-day breakfast, Burger King responding in kind, Wendy's flailing in the breakfast arena, and Taco Bell revamping its morning menu, the competition is more intense than ever. But in the midst of the battle, some weaknesses are rising. We tested three main breakfast items from the major fast-food chains. We tried breakfast from McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Wendy's — here's who does it best Marina Nazario and Hollis Johnson Oct. 28, 2015, 9:02 AM 1,083,325 35 ï‚‚ facebook  linkedin ï‚™ twitter ïƒ email  print fast food...

The World Health Organisation (WHO) will publish a report on Monday on the dangers of eating processed meats. It is expected to list processed meat as a cancer-causing substance, while fresh red meat is also expected to be regarded as bad for health, the Daily Mail said. The classifications, by the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer, are believed to regard processed meat as "carcinogenic to humans", the highest of five possible rankings, shared with alcohol, asbestos, arsenic and cigarettes.

I saw a sad but not totally unexpected news item from John Hawkins this morning regarding one of America’s premiere dining outlets… McDonald’s. The House That Ronald Built has fallen on hard times, with some estimates indicating that a significant portion of the franchises are currently insolvent or seriously in the red. The dire warnings from franchise owners are including phrases such as, “these are the final days.†(Yahoo News) McDonald’s franchisees believe the brand is in a “deep depression†and could be facing its “final days,†according to a new survey.“We are in the throes of a deep depression,...

Since McDonald's launched an all-day breakfast menu last week, a number of their franchisees are not 'lovin' it' and say it has been a nightmare. Franchisees say that serving breakfast all-day has slowed down service, lowered average bills and sparked utter chaos in the restaurant giant's kitchens. Twenty-nine operators overseeing 226 different locations in the US were surveyed by Mark Kalinowski, an analyst for the Japanese finance company Nomura. He found that since the new menu items were added last Tuesday, many of the franchisees were struggling. 'In small stores, the problems are vast with people falling over each other...

Earlier this year, New York Times food critic Pete Wells was moved to write 841 words about breakfast sandwiches. It was a love letter of sorts, an ooey gooey ode to the most basic form of one of the most basic morning foods. But it was also a complaint: A new restaurant called BEC — short for Bacon Egg and Cheese — was about to open in Manhattan, and he was less than pleased. Breakfast sandwiches, Wells explained, are nothing if not practical, prepared quickly and eaten on the go, stuffed with modest ingredients and sold at a reasonable price....

If you're one of those people who hates missing the end of breakfast hours at McDonald's, hang on just a little longer: the chain says its breakfast menu will be available all day starting Oct. 6. Items like Egg McMuffins, hotcakes, sausage burritos, fruit 'n yogurt parfaits, hash browns and biscuits will be available anytime, although the exact menu will vary in different markets. The company said core items like the Big Mac, McNuggets and fries will still be available at all of its locations.

Talk radio host and author of “The Liberty Amendments,” Mark Levin argued that America’s enemies were “gut laughing” at President Obama’s speech before the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Barack Obama lashed out at Christians today at the Annual Prayer Breakfast. The President used his warped version of the Crusades to bash Christians. He also blamed slavery and Jim Crow laws on Christians? Seriously? The president: “Humanity has been grappling with these questions throughout human history. Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place. Remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. And our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.” Slavery ended here...

A North Carolina man tried to surprise his wife with breakfast in bed, but he wound up surprising her so much that she shot him, reports WTVR. Police say that Zia Segule, 28, left their Fayetteville home about 10am yesterday, picked up some breakfast, and then returned. In doing so, he triggered the house alarm. When he got to the couple's bedroom, wife Tiffany, 27, shot him through the closed door, reports the Fayetteville Observer. He was struck in the upper chest, but, luckily, escaped serious injury. No charges are being filed. "She woke up to the sound of the...
