Did you ever run into the Southside crew in the 4th turn? I bet you did. I bet we smoked and did a few shots together. In those days everyone ran into the Southside crew. We owned the 4th turn.
Not only was I there I was a member of the Pike High School marching band and we marched and played around the the track that day. But the race got rained out. It was an ugly year.
Guys I wish I could post pictures on FR. I would post picture and tell you stories of Indy 500 that would blow your mind. You have never seen anything like the snake pit of the 1970’s. I’ve got a photo collection from 1971. Those were some really crazy days.
We generally have a big BBQ in the north 40 after the race and let the traffic die down. And the wife is driving. I would never driver after an Indy car race. I have too much fun after every race but especially after this delayed one. I always bring my wonderful wife as the designated driver. She’s just as much a race fan as me and has been at the last 41 races right there with me. Life can be so cool.
Tht was my 41st consecutive Indy 500. From beginning to end it was one of the most exciting I’ve ever seen. I really think they should consider starting the race at 4:00 PM.
Indy always boils down to the last 20 laps and the last 20 today promises to be something really special. Hold on boys, this is gonna be an E ticket ride.
