• Immigration, cheap labor and the GOP

08/12/2021 1:20:58 AM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 8 replies
I’ve often wondered about the GOP’s history of aligning with the interests of business owners with their desire for cheap labor (usually fulfilled by legal/illegal aliens). My parents told me that when they came here from Greece in 1968 (legally), the plan was to work a few years, save a lot of money, then head back to Greece. They changed their mind and decided that there were better opportunities in the US and applied for citizenship. Did the GOP assume that is what most immigrants (legal or not) would do…at least back in the 60s and 70s? I find it...
• Was Nixon Wrong About China? It might be time to question the conventional wisdom.

Speaking at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California, on July 23, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attempted a difficult balancing act. On the one hand, Pompeo repudiated more than four decades of American policy toward China. Pompeo argued that the days of the U.S. holding out hope for political liberalization was over. And he called on free nations around the world to lock arms against the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) various schemes and threats. On the other hand, Pompeo said he did not want to “seem too eager to tear down President Nixon’s legacy.” While...
• Those of you who still believe in Q and “Trust the plan”, please tell me why.

02/20/2021 4:53:58 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 245 replies
If you still believe in Q, “trust the plan”, etc. I would like to know why. What makes you so confident that Q is not BS now that Biden is in the White House?
• What happened to "we caught them all"?

01/20/2021 3:56:32 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 237 replies
Can someone please explain this to me? Trump said "we caught them all", so I would assume to mean he has the evidence to prove it was stolen. What happened to that?
• So...did Q, Anon and other "trust the plan" types predict this election fraud?

11/04/2020 8:11:41 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 93 replies
I don't follow Q, anons, etc. I think they are about as useful as Nostradamus. Cryptic sounding predictions that always gave the impression that something big was going to happen just around the corner but never does. Just out of curiosity for those that do follow, was there any prediction of election fraud?
• ‘Rebuilding year’ for Dems, Lynch says (Dems need white voters)

11/12/2016 2:34:43 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 55 replies
Boston Herald ^ | November 12, 2016 | Chris Villani
U.S. Rep. Stephen F. Lynch says it’s time for the Democratic Party to “get back to its roots” and refocus on speaking about the issues facing white, blue-collar workers now that the Republican Party has seized control of the White House and retained both the House and Senate. “This is a rebuilding year, I think we have to look at the results and where our weaknesses are,” an introspective Lynch told the Herald yesterday, three days after President-elect Donald Trump cruised to a surprise victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. “We are very, very progressive and sometimes we overlook that...
• SF bracing in case Trump cuts federal funds over sanctuary status

11/12/2016 12:57:42 AM PST · by eekitsagreek · 91 replies

Mayor Ed Lee and San Francisco politicians are bracing for what President-elect Donald Trump lists as one of his main priorities: blocking “all federal funding” for sanctuary cities.

Hundreds of cities around the country have sanctuary policies, which broadly means local officials limit their cooperation with federal immigration authorities to turn over immigrants living in the country without documentation. The scope and degree of those policies vary, and San Francisco has some of the most stringent noncompliance policies in the country.

• RNC chair Reince Priebus insists Trump is 'not calling for mass deportation'

The Week ^ | Nov. 9, 2016 | Becca Stanek
Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus assured America on Wednesday morning that its next president, Donald Trump, does not actually want to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. "He's not calling for mass deportation. He said, 'no, only people who have committed crimes and only until all of that has been taken care of do we look at what we do next,'" Priebus said during an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe after Election Day. Priebus also clarified that Trump wasn't actually proposing to temporarily ban all Muslims from entering the U.S. Though Trump has explicitly said we must have a "total...
• Vanity: Watching CNN and MSNBC and all they can talk about is race.

11/09/2016 5:28:17 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 20 replies
Watching the absolute dejection is pure comedy gold as they show the protests in the background. They are trying to explain Hillary lost because Trump and his supporters are racist. They are worried about "white power". Panelists talk about getting calls and text messages from people worried sick they may be rounded up. This is unreal.

• Vanity: What this election is all about.

11/07/2016 7:46:06 PM PST · by eekitsagreek · 24 replies
You look at these crowds, you look at the enthusiasm and dedication and then contrast that with Hillary. I am telling you right now, the pollsters and pundits simply do not get it. They are trying to compare turnouts to that of 2012, but it will not work. This election is about those who have felt left out, ignored, taken for granted, forgotten, even despised. That is what this election is all about, this wave of anger at DC. It really is not about Trump. Trump is merely riding the wave. How many times have we heard about people who...
• What will the D/R/I turnout be this election?

11/04/2016 8:41:48 AM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 27 replies
In 2012 the breakdown of D/R/I was 38/32/29. Current polling is likely using this ratio for this year, if not with higher D numbers. I am curious to see what posters here think the ratio for this year will be. Hillary does not have the level of appeal (especially among black voters) that Obama had in '08 and '12. On the other hand, looking at the size of Trump's rallies he should have the edge in enthusiasm. Thus I cannot believe it will be D+6 this year. I don't know how many of those R's will be never-Trumpers that will...
• Popular vote percentage lead for Trump to ensure a victory with electoral vote?

11/03/2016 7:32:33 PM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 34 replies
In 2000, Bush lost the popular vote by .5% yet won 271 electoral votes. I believe in the "rising tide lifts all boats" in that if Trump wins enough of the popular vote, that should be enough to win enough states to win the minimum 270. Does anyone know what kind of percentage lead Trump needs in the popular vote to ensure that he wins the electoral vote?
• Jay Z to hold Ohio concert for Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton has yet another celebrity heavyweight pulling for her: Jay Z. The rapper is planning a “get out the vote” concert aimed at black voters in Ohio prior to election day, a Clinton aide told CBS News.
• Vanity: How is Trump's minority outreach coming along?

10/21/2016 7:33:43 PM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 24 replies
I just watched Trump's latest rally in Newton, PA. He mentioned quite a few times tonight the black and hispanic communities and how bad things are for them under Democrat rule. I think it's great he is reaching out to them, but I believe he needs to do more than just mention them in his rallies. He needs to go into the inner cities. I know he went to Detroit back in early September, but he needs to do that again, not only in Detroit, but in Philly, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Cleveland and any other city in a battleground state....
• CBS: WikiLeaks dumps more John Podesta emails

10/12/2016 10:42:04 AM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 29 replies
WASHINGTON -- Hacked emails show that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was slow to grasp the seriousness of the controversy over her use of a homebrew email server and believed it might blow over after one weekend. Two days after The Associated Press was first to report in March 2015 that Clinton had been running a private server in her home in New York to send and receive messages when she was secretary of state, her advisers were shaping their strategy to respond to the revelation. Among the emails made public Tuesday by WikiLeaks was one from Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill,...
• Vanity: Trump in the next debate.

10/08/2016 11:13:37 PM PDT · by eekitsagreek · 43 replies
I firmly believe that Trump blew a huge opportunity in the first debate to put Hillary Clinton away. The first 30 or so minutes he was great, but then he took his foot off the gas pedal, and then played defense the rest of the way. He said he went easy on her so as to not embarrass her. So many here believe that because of that, he "looked Presidential". I am so sick of hearing that. McCain looked "Presidential" during his debate. So did Romney. How did that work for our side? So now we have debate #2 coming...

It’s an intervention in absentia. Trump’s not there, but when you’ve got a VP shortlister on this show, of all shows, urging Trump to cease and desist immediately, you’d better believe it’s going to get back to him. It’d be like Pravda publishing an open letter to the Soviet premier begging him to change course on something. When a political mistake has reached the point where your own house organs are inveighing against it, it’s objectively a major mistake.
