I’ve often wondered about the GOP’s history of aligning with the interests of business owners with their desire for cheap labor (usually fulfilled by legal/illegal aliens).
My parents told me that when they came here from Greece in 1968 (legally), the plan was to work a few years, save a lot of money, then head back to Greece. They changed their mind and decided that there were better opportunities in the US and applied for citizenship.
Did the GOP assume that is what most immigrants (legal or not) would do…at least back in the 60s and 70s? I find it hard to believe that, as the flood of immigrants from Third World Socialist countries kept rising, there wasn’t someone from the GOP that wasn’t concerned about the trend of those immigrants’ families voting Democrat.
How many in the GOP (local, state and national level) that supported all that cheap labor to flood this country found themselves voted out of office years later by those same immigrants?
Was it worth getting those $$$ campaign donations only to lose office and power? I’m sure the California, New York and Illinois GOP wished they were relevant again.
I wonder how many business owners that have employed cheap labor over the years, unwittingly made their city/state a blue bastion to such an extent they had to shut down or flee due to high taxes, increased regulations, etc.?
There has to be some remorse, right?
I think these business leaders have looked at our demographic situation and realized that they are slowly getting desperate for more CUSTOMERS.
From Reagan giving amnesty to millions to every president since, turning a blind eye, we’ll never see immigration stopped. Trump did ok. The judges stopped him at every turn.
People like George W. Bush oppose nationalism. They don’t care about losing states.

In the US hiring illegals gave businesses a huge advantage over those that played by the rules. It also CRUSHED the unions, which used to be able to bring our economy to its knees, but now only exist to forcibly extract money from people to fund Democrats.
I think the reason they didn’t look at the long-term harm it was doing to the country is because they REALLY BELIEVED that all men were created equal, and once they lived the American Dream, they would be no different than European immigrants. Well, that could have been true (and there is some evidence of that, where assimilation did take place), but the Democrats were allowed to stop that in its tracks...using methods like Bilingual Education (thereby preventing Hispanics from becoming fluent in English), and other methods of victimology.
So, we got played. All we had to do was change a few laws to get rid of unions, and businesses in the US would have been able to hire Americans and we’d be a different country now...far different. We’d be a country with a future.

If someone out to discredit Reagan for eternity didn't tell you about it, you wouldn't even know it happened.
Since 1989 the main purpose o the GOP has been to block the citizens from stopping the illegal alien inundation.
The goal has always been a one party state.
It was the only way to steal the country from the citizens.
We would not vote to give up our sovereignty and subsume our country to the UN in a New World Order so they are importing people who will.
How did Reagan affect my life? Well it was the first time later that we had to see Spanish in stores. Also he caused the press one for english. Ballots were bilingual causing taxes to go up. Yes he was a peach.
