US Airways Group Inc. plans to discontinue in-flight movies on about 10 percent of its flights, due in large part to rising fuel costs. Airline spokeswoman Valerie Wunder said the current in-flight entertainment systems are being pulled from roughly 196 of its planes. "These systems weigh about 500 pounds, and whether a movie is showing or not, the plane has to bear that weight," Wunder said. My little girl is having surgery tomorrow to have a lympangioma removed from her neck. I'm at that point where you transition from "She has the best doctors, it's a simple operation, everything's going to be fine" to "My lord, what are they going to do to my baby, what if I never see her again", so prayers are much appreciated. Especially pray that the anesthesia goes smoothly, and that her facial nerves remain undamaged. A mild degree of facial paralysis is the most common after-effect of this type of surgery. Japanese musician Akira Ifukube, who composed the music to the Godzilla films, has died at the age of 91. He wrote the theme to the original 1954 Godzilla movie, known in Japan in Gojira, which was used in a number of films about the sci-fi creature. He received a Person of Cultural Merit award in 2003, considered one of Japan's highest honours. The Tokyo College of Music, where he was once president, said Ifukube died of multiple organ failure on Wednesday.
