Please call and/or e-mail today the list of people below, particularly Jones and Towns. (Wednesday is too late) and ask them to support HB 1983. Does anybody know where I can get some information on introducing children to firearms? I have a 4 year old son who was playing with another child at a family function and the other child took a sword and said it was a gun and proceeded to "shoot" things. Now my son is asking all types of questions about guns. I have a firearm in the house and would like to educate him the proper way.

Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., accused the Mexican army Tuesday of staging a "military incursion" Friday night into southern Arizona that ended with Mexican soldiers firing shots at a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle. Lori Haley, an Immigration and Naturalization spokeswoman, confirmed that an incident occurred in a remote area near Ajo, Ariz. A U.S. agent spotted three Mexican soldiers in a Mexican Humvee on U.S. soil and was attempting to leave the area when the rear window of his vehicle was apparently shattered by gunfire, she said. The agent was leaving the area...

WASHINGTON — The United States has imposed sanctions on a group of firms from China and the former Soviet Union deemed to have transferred components and technology for weapons of mass destruction to Iran. In all, eight Chinese companies were hit by sanctions along with two Armenian and two Moldavian firms and individuals. A notice in the Federal Register on Thursday did not disclose what had been transferred to Iran. The sanctions will remain for two years and bar U.S. companies or individuals from dealing with the blacklisted entities. The sanctions marked the first time Washington has imposed sanctions on...

ASHINGTON, April 22 — The White House cut 93 percent of a recent request by the secretary of energy for money to improve the security of nuclear weapons and waste, according to a letter from the secretary. The secretary, Spencer Abraham, said in the March 14 letter to Mitchell E. Daniels Jr., the director of the Office of Management and Budget, that the request, for $379.7 million, was "a critical down payment to the safety and security of our nation and its people." The money, for guarding nuclear weapons, weapons materials and radioactive waste under the Energy Department's supervision, was...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Washington police are building what will be the nation's biggest network of surveillance cameras to monitor shopping areas, streets, monuments and other public places in the U.S. capital, a move that worries civil liberties groups, The Wall Street Journal said on Wednesday. The system would eventually include hundreds of cameras, linking existing devices in Metro mass transit stations, public schools and traffic intersections to new digital cameras mounted to watch over neighborhoods and shopping districts, the Journal said. "In the context of Sept. 11, we have no choice but to accept greater use of this ...

(AP) Iraqi forces are believed to have fired a mortar that landed near a U.N. patrol and observation post on the Kuwaiti side of the border, a spokesman for the international observers said Monday. The firing took place Sunday morning and nobody was hurt, Daljeet Bagga told The Associated Press. He said the 82mm mortar made a "small crater" in the ground and a cloud of smoke billowing from the site attracted a Kuwaiti police patrol. The angle of the trajectory "indicated it could have been fired from Safwan inside Iraq," the spokesman for the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation ...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI and CIA believe extremists in the United States, not followers of Saudi-born Osama bin Laden, are probably behind this month's anthrax attacks, the Washington Post reported on Saturday. Senior officials also are increasingly concerned the germ warfare agent attacks have diverted public attention from the larger threat posed by bin Laden and his al Qaeda network, the paper said. They believe the main suspect in the hijacked plane strikes on America on Sept. 11 is planning a second wave of attacks against U.S. interests at home or abroad that could come at any time, the ...
