The SARS-CoV-2 virus is still spreading worldwide, and there is an urgent need to effectively prevent and control this pandemic. This study evaluated the potential efficacy of Egg Yolk Antibodies (IgY) as a neutralizing agent against the SARS-CoV-2. We investigated the neutralizing effect of anti-spike-S1 IgYs on the SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus, as well as its inhibitory effect on the binding of the coronavirus spike protein mutants to human ACE2. Our results show that the anti-Spike-S1 IgYs showed significant neutralizing potency against SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus, various spike protein mutants, and even SARS-CoV in vitro. It might be a feasible tool for the prevention...

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, New York, has covered up a large painting of Jesus Christ in one of its buildings following a complaint from an advocacy group. After receiving a complaint from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, whose founder and president Michael Weinstein fired off a letter to Vice Adm. Joanna M. Nunan on Jan. 10, the school unfurled a white curtain over the large image of Jesus walking on water toward a boat of men lost at sea. "I come to you this day to demand that the USMMA, which you currently command as...

A Los Angeles 17-year-old who ran over a mother walking her baby in a stroller in 2021 and received just a few months of diversionary camp as punishment was gunned down in Palmdale, California, this week. Kristopher Baca, whom Fox News Digital has previously not identified due to his youth, pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run last year. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office confirmed his death Friday but said the examination was still pending. Deputies found him dead with gunshot wounds in a Palmdale driveway on the 83600 block of 11th Street East on Wednesday evening, according to the...

Michael Stenger, the Senate sergeant-at-arms who oversaw security in the upper chamber during the Capitol riot, died Monday morning, according to multiple reports. The cause of his death was not immediately clear. Stenger held the post from 2018 to 2021 and stepped down the day after the Jan. 6 attack. "There is an opportunity to learn lessons from the events of January 6th. Investigations should be considered as to funding and travel of what appears to be professional agitators. First Amendment rights should always be considered in conjunction with professional investigations," he said in an opening statement before a Senate...

The Ohio Senate race between Republican J.D. Vance and Rep. Tim Ryan (D) is in a virtual deadlock, according to a new poll. The USA Today Network Ohio-Suffolk University survey released Wednesday found that Vance leads Ryan by just more than 2 percentage points among likely Ohio voters, well within the margin of error. Vance received the support of 41.6 percent of voters questioned compared to Ryan’s 39.4 percent. Almost 17 percent of respondents remain undecided in the closely watched race to replace retiring Sen. Rob Portman (R). Additionally, 39.8 percent of respondents had a favorable view of Ryan, compared...

The GOP's Friday night U.S. Senate candidate forum in Ohio featured a face-off between candidates Mike Gibbons and Josh Mandel that nearly brought them to blows. The argument between the two erupted after Mandel claimed Gibbons had "made millions" from business dealings with Chinese companies. "You may not understand this," Gibbons told Mandel, who then stood up from his seat and confronted Gibbons at the event hosted by FreedomWorks. "I do," Mandel replied. "You have never … you have never been in the private sector in your entire life," Gibbons told Mandel. "Two tours in Iraq. Don’t tell me I...

The band Heavy Young Heathens accused U.S. Olympic figure skating pair Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier of using its music without permission in a routine at the Beijing Winter Olympics, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday. The group is suing the duo, NBC and U.S. Figure Skating, for copyright violations over the pair skating to the band’s version of “House of the Rising Sun.” Heavy Young Heathens members Robert and Aron Marderosian claimed that while “House of the Rising Sun” is based on a folk song, their rendition “is a signature song of theirs throughout the world” ― due in...

The Cincinnati Bengals started playing football in 1968. They had never won a road playoff game before Saturday night. It seems impossible to go more than 50 years without one road playoff win. But the Bengals stood at 0-7 in road playoff games. Things are changing for the Bengals. The Bengals, whose last playoff win before this season came in January of 1991, won their second playoff game in eight days and are moving on to the AFC championship game with a 19-16 win over the Tennessee Titans, the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson got...

A secularist non-profit organization that strongly urges separation of church and state in America is taking issue with Wreaths Across America's nearly 30-year tradition of placing wreaths on thousands of military graves. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) is calling out Wreaths Across America, telling the Colorado Springs Gazette that the organization's actions in placing wreaths on military gravesites around the country are "unconstitutional, an atrocity and a disgrace." "We have no problem if people reach out and want a wreath on their deceased veterans’ graves, but to put them everywhere, to blanket them without permission of the surviving families...

Nearly a quarter of college students wouldn't be friends with someone who voted for the other presidential candidate — with Democrats far more likely to dismiss people than Republicans — according to new Generation Lab/Axios polling. Why it matters: Partisan divides — as each side inhabits parallel political, cultural and media universes —make a future of discord and distrust in the U.S. all the more likely. By the numbers: 5% of Republicans said they wouldn't be friends with someone from the opposite party, compared to 37% of Democrats. 71% of Democrats wouldn't go on a date with someone with opposing...

HUDSON, Ohio — A book intended to prepare Hudson High School students for college now has parents in an uproar. They said the contents of the book are inappropriate for their children and now, they’re demanding reform and transparency from the school board. “Write a sex scene you wouldn't show your mom. Rewrite the sex scene from above into one that you let your mom read. Describe your favorite part of a man's body using only verbs,” said parent Monica Haven. Those are some of the writing prompts found inside the book, '642 Things to Write About.' Until Monday, that...

While Afghanistan collapses, COVID rages, and the U.S. economy stagnates, you can take heart in the fact that we have an energetic, dedicated leader ready to tackle any issue that comes his way. Alright, so you can’t take heart in that — because the president is actually Joe Biden. But still, surely he can at least remain awake long enough to meet with the Israeli prime minister. I mean, it’s not like that’s a demanding assignment. Apparently, that was too much to ask, though. Biden appears to have fallen asleep at one point during the meeting, and I don’t mean...
