“It may be bad for the booze sales. Mormons are not known for drinking.”
You are correct. It is (was?) state law that any beer sold in Utah cannot have above 3% alcohol content. Also, based on my few visits there for my job, if you wanted to go to a sports bar or other drinking establishment they were designated “private clubs” and you had to buy a $5 per year “membership” to get in. After paying the $5 fee they would give you a $5 credit to use against your bill once inside. In other words, they will find ways around the law.
I’ll never forget the disgust I felt when the Beatles were honored decades ago for their lifetime accomplishments and Paul used the occasion to rail about the supposed hole in the ozone layer.
Thank you for your reply. I can assure you I was not the least bit hurt. It’s just that I prefer not to disparage, or look down on, those whose study had led them to a different understanding than my own. Reasoned conversation is much preferable. I will continue my study and encourage you to continue yours. All the best!
Sorry, I wasn’t aware you were assigned the title of Universal Critic of all who have a different biblical education background than you. I shall report to the torture chamber first thing in the morning.
Just think, back in those days the Globe and Mail (”affectionately” referred to as the Mop and Pail) was considered a conservative newspaper! Lawrence Martin doesn’t realize that at some point, in some place, at some time, they will come for him. Hope he enjoys the thirty pieces of silver he’s being paid.
“Jehovah is a made up word and not the name of God”
In ancient Hebrew scripture it was spelled “YHWH” there are no vowels in that language. Th Jews called Him Yahweh. Various writers and translations over time ended up with the English translation of Jehovah. The name may be pronounced in different ways but we know who it is referring to.
Me too! I have his album “Pleasures of the Harbor” on vinyl. The title song is easy to listen to. He has an interesting song on the album that actually got a lot of airplay called “Outside of a Small Circle of Friends”.
I bet they can’t wait to use this law to target the only news organization that seems to be generating any challenge to their governance: Rebel News. Expect to see their reporters regularly harassed and arrested. Having escaped from that political cesspool, I now have some idea how the escapees from the old East Berlin must have felt.
“Tyson, Smithfield (China owned), Armour probably not affected.................”
It was announced today that the Tyson plant in Perry Iowa, (the town where the recent school shooting was.), will be closed down. There are about 1200 employees affected.
