I would certainly second that evaluation and look forward to his next contribution. I recall that Freeper Yellow Rose of Texas was related to the real N B Forrest.— may she be in the arms of the Lord.
Late 40s for me as well. My dad had been a Master Sgt in the army. Men knew how to work in that era. He worked in management of a commercial construction company and in 1950 built our own suburban house virtually with only one helper in each trade. Worked until 2:00 am for 16 months. Was the best suburb in KC.
The kids that grew up in FDR’s depression and the went out and kicked ass in a two front war were tough. He lived until he was 90 and would not have suffered what we have now.
The United Methodist Church where we now live was the largest church. It just split because 40% didn’t want the promotion of homosexuality. The spin off is doing great.
Ash Tray. I can’t remember a car recently that had one. .
the new standard is to just throw the ashes, embers and butts out the window where some blow back into your back seat and other leave little memories amongst the roadside tinder...
Moth balls are a good repellant. Those suggesting poisons should remember that poisons often have a peanut butter type attractor smell. You don’t want to attract these rodents in any manner.
Step-Daughter had an approximately 1990 Ford Escort. That thing ran forever and after we took it back and then sold it to a neighbor’s daughter it was still running in 2020. It was bullet proof. I had an original Ford Aerostar minivan that had almost a truck frame. 200K and was still running after my kid had driven it for a couple of years at college in Iowa snows. Some serious recalls but all fixed. I have had better luck for long life with US made cars but I am always getting dealer service is part of the reason.

I have done a lot of back country driving in the Southwest and always wanted to go across that gravel path. Awesome I know but I never have gotten there.
First time i visited Sedona was fifty-two years ago. A picturesque little sleepy town back then. I guess i have been there twenty-five times in the last thirty years. Still beautiful but mobbed.
Interesting place in its day. Met Robert Shields and rummaged around in his basement garage with my wife and he back when he lived just off Oak Creek. Some very beautiful golf courses but way too crowded now.
I like towns like that before they become “a thing.” Santa Fe, Taos,Ouray, Crested Butte, Eureka Springs, Blowing Rock, and etc..
