I have been unable to log into facebook since yesterday. I keep getting a message that says "Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours." This morning I decided to look at a friend's account. He is able to log in no problem. Also, when he clicks on my name it says that page is an invalid link. Very strange. I noticed that the DNC sent a message regarding Sarah Palin's facebook page. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2373961/posts I am listed as a fan of Sarah's on facebook and I have posted some political...

Dear Friend, Anyone that's watched the news in the past few days knows that health insurance reform is a hot topic — and that rumors and scare tactics have only increased as more people engage with the issue. Given a lot of the outrageous claims floating around, it’s time to make sure everyone knows the facts about the security and stability you get with health insurance reform. That’s why we’ve launched a new online resource — WhiteHouse.gov/RealityCheck — to help you separate fact from fiction and share the truth about health insurance reform. Here's a few of the reality check...

Dear Friend, Last night, President Obama addressed the nation in a primetime press conference about health insurance reform. The President made crystal clear what's at stake in this debate: the fiscal well-being of our nation and the health of our families and small businesses. In case you missed it, take a look at what he had to say: Truth be told — with each passing day, more and more Americans are unable to get the health care they need, when they need it. Skyrocketing co-pays and deductibles and soaring insurance premiums are crushing our family budgets and small businesses. Unless...

Sarah Palin has a facebook page with over 500,000 friends. It looks like some lefties are trying to hjack it by posting negative stories. I would ask that you all go there and post support for Sarah. Ignore the negative posts (such as Bobby Raza) and they will go away.

I stumbled across this site this morning. There is an interesting ongoing discussion (battle) regarding the BC issue. It has over 1,400 comments so far. No membership is required to post so I thought some Freepers might want to put their two cents in! http://www.topix.com/us/politics/2008/11/why-the-barack-obama-birth-certificate-issue-is-legitimate
  • Monitor the google searches for the Chicago Tribune Ad

I am interested in seeing if the full-page Open Letter to Mr. Obama that will be published in the Chicago Tribune on both Monday, December 1, 2008 and Wednesday, December 3, 2008 will be picked up by the MSM. I googled "Chicago Tribune""Obama""ad""December 1, 2008" to see how many hits there were. My search returned 672 hits. I then thought that if all the freepers started googling this over the next week it might be interesting. I have no idea how to drive internet traffic but perhaps all the searching on the same topic will raise the issue on google's...
  • Main Street Needs the Treasury Plan

    WSJ ^ | KENNETH D. LEWIS
In our national debate about Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's proposed financial rescue package, we are having the wrong conversation. This is not about how to bail out Wall Street. This is about saving the U.S. financial system for the benefit of American businesses, consumers and the economy at large. I believe that Mr. Paulson's plan will accomplish this goal. Congress should include provisions it feels are necessary to ensure oversight and accountability. And it should then pass the legislation as soon as possible. There is no question in my mind that our financial system and our economy are at risk....
  • Administration Moves Toward Democrats in Effort to Pass $700 Billion Bailout Plan

    09/24/2008 3:25:19 PM PDT · by koraz · 31 replies · 788+ views
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration will include mortgage aid for homeowners and strong congressional oversight in its $700 billion financial bailout plan, the head of the House Financial Services Committee said Monday. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said great progress has been made in talks between lawmakers and President Bush's team on the rescue. Leading the negotiations for the administration is Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson. A government official with knowledge of the talks said the administration has agreed to create a plan to help prevent foreclosures on mortgages it acquires as part of the bailout. That had been a big demand...
  • The Worst Possible Outcome - A Democrat/Paulson Plan

I am watching Fast Money on CNBC and just realized out Freepers and Republicans have screwed up this Paulson Plan big time. Fast Money was discussing the Democrat amendments to the plan. The Republicans have so far refused to consider the plan. The plan will not address our concerns! There is no way that a plan will not be passed into law. The Democrats have enough votes to get it through and Bush will sign it!! IMO, I think this is why Buffett bought into Goldman yesterday. He knows this. I also think this is why McCain is coming back...
  • Gov't Bailouts Common, but Effectiveness Debatable

    09/21/2008 9:20:14 PM PDT · by koraz · 3 replies · 186+ views
CHICAGO -- The stock market plummets, investors pull out money and loans dry up, triggering global financial turmoil. Enter the government, buying up bad mortgages and other problem assets. This scenario from the 1930s sounds eerily current, in part because the Bush administration is taking pages from the playbooks Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt used to unfreeze credit and keep Americans from losing their homes three-quarters of a century ago. From the Great Depression to the Chrysler bailout in 1979 to the savings and loan crisis that cost taxpayers $125 billion in the 1990s, the current administration has many...
  • The Old Economic Rule Doesn't Work

The bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, the sale of Merrill Lynch to Bank of America, the 500-point plunge of the Dow, the government takeover of AIG -- all these have got the presidential candidates talking about the economy. But both Barack Obama and John McCain have been vague about their solutions. And for good reason. Our economic problems are concentrated in the finance sector, and that's the part of the economy the average voter knows least about.
  • The cost of the 1990s RTC Bailout

“The RTC’s cost for handling those failures was estimated at December 31, 1995, to be $87.5 billion, or about 22 percent of the assets at time of failure.” (page 25) “The $87.5 billion in costs was almost twice the initial $50.1 billion FIRREA appropriation, but it was substantially less than the high end of the range that the U.S. Treasury predicted at the peak of the cycle in June 1991 of close to $130 billion in 1989 present value costs or $160 billion in absolute dollars.” (page 25) “Another factor influencing the ultimate resolution costs for the RTC was inadequate...

  • Metro College Response to the Sarah Palin bashing assignment

As I noted on an earlier thread, I sent an email to the president of Metro College after I read about Andrew Hallam's assignment "to assemble criticisms of Gov. Sarah Palin." http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=75426 They have responded in what I think it an appropriate way. I thought it would only be fair to share the email. ************ RE: E-mail from contact Office of the President Site Thank you for your concerns about the issues mentioned in recent news mediastories. • Is Paulson Obama's chief economic advisor??

Ok, so Obama's is doing a press conference right now. Is is on Fox's News. He referred to Paulson as his "chief economic advisor. A few words later he corrected himself as said, "I mean Volker." Was this a freudian slip. I ask in light of this article from yesterday. http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=13841

  • MARKET MANIPULATION – PART OF THE OBAMA GAME PLAN??

As a long time market follower I am observing what is happening in the market with interest (and agony!). I have watched other downturns (2001, 1998, 1987) and read about others (1929). We all know that market panics are part factual and part psychological. In other panic periods, CNBC and other press outlets would roll out industry leaders such as Warren Buffett to calm the public. Where is the leadership today? Sure we have problems but remember the root of the problem – mortgages. Even if we recognize that banks made stupid loans, deadbeats took on mortgages that they had...

Forgive me if I am out of line with this posting. This was buried in a posting regarding Sarah Palin's rally in Carson City and I thought it deserved some attention. The woman's husband made a T-shirt that said, " Jesus wasn't a Community Organizer; Barack Obama isn't our Saviour!!!" I am not sure if it was orginal but I do like it. I would like to see it get more play and maybe make it into the media discussions. I wasn't able to post the picture of the T-shirt. If someone could do that I would appreciate it. I...
