PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. - A new pair of hands pulled Punxsutawney Phil from his stump this year, so it was only fitting that the groundhog offered a new prediction. Phil did not see his shadow on Friday which, according to German folklore, means folks can expect an early spring instead of six more weeks of winter. Since 1886, Phil has seen his shadow 96 times, hasn't seen it 14 times and there are no records for nine years, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. The last time Phil failed to see his shadow was in 1999. More than 15,000 revelers milled...

In 11 days, I turn 35 years old. Which makes me Constitutionally eligible to run for President of the United States. Since everyone else announced this weekend, I decided to wait until today... I like the limelight and don't like sharing it with Shrillary Clinton. Other than being 35 years old, I have no other qualifications to be President. I am an adult college student at University of North Texas and will graduate with a B.S. in Business Computer Information Systems in May of '08... just in time to attend the Convention to accept the nomination. but I do want...

TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Toyota Motor Co is developing a radically different carmaking process that will drastically cut costs across the entire chain of production, President Katsuaki Watanabe said in an interview with the Financial Times. 'The focus is on low-cost technology,' Watanabe said. 'Everything from design to production methods will be radically changed and we are thinking of a really ultra-low-cost way of designing, using ultra-low-cost materials, even developing new materials if necessary.' Watanabe said the company will review each step in the production process to lower costs for a new model and then to apply the lessons across its...

Milan - Now I know there are many out there who will think I have lost it when I write that a key, new must-have for men this coming fall will be a pair of leggings to be worn outside, not just in, the house, but that was the big message at the debut Marni men's runway show this morning in Milan. Leggings made of microfiber cotton and wool, shown in violet, forest green and Milan fog gray, all of them with stirrup straps, except of course for a couple of them cut above the knee, accompanied half the...

(AP) SAN FRANCISCO A young mother who claimed she tossed her three young sons to their deaths in San Francisco Bay to send them to heaven was declared criminally insane Wednesday by a judge. The ruling came a day after jurors found Lashuan Harris, 24, guilty of second-degree murder in the drownings of her three boys on Oct. 19, 2005. Defense lawyers argued that Harris was schizophrenic and borderline mentally retarded and that she was convinced she was acting on orders from God when she plunged 6-year-old Trayshawn Harris, 2-year-old Taronta Greely Jr. and 16-month-old Joshua Greely into the bay.

MANAGUA — Ex-Sandinista guerrilla leader and former U.S. nemesis Daniel Ortega was sworn in as president Wednesday, almost 17 years after being voted out of office, in another gain for Latin America's ascendant left. "Congratulations. You're destroying the capitalist system. While everybody else in the world is embracing it...my boys and girls are f**king it up! You know what happens when capitalism gets f**ked up? The communists come back. They come out of the bushes. Don't kid yourself. They're waiting in there. But maybe that's not so bad. Because you know what happens when the commies take over? The first...

It's clearly laid out in 140 pages of printed text, handwriting and spreadsheets: The top-secret plan for Rudy Giuliani's bid for the White House. The remarkably detailed dossier sets out the budgets, schedules and fund-raising plans that will underpin the former New York mayor's presidential campaign - as well as his aides' worries that personal and political baggage could scuttle his run. At the center of his efforts: a massive fund-raising push to bring in at least $100 million this year, with a scramble for at least $25 million in the next three months alone. The loss of the battle...

US President George W Bush intends to reveal a new Iraq strategy within days, the BBC has learnt. The speech will reveal a plan to send more US troops to Iraq to focus on ways of bringing greater security, rather than training Iraqi forces. The move comes with figures from Iraqi ministries suggesting that deaths among civilians are at record highs. The US president arrived back in Washington on Monday after a week-long holiday at his ranch in Texas. The BBC was told by a senior administration source that the speech setting out changes in Mr Bush's Iraq policy is...
