MADISON, Wis. — In attempting to explain her two-year work hiatus in the early to mid-1990s, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke has said she was just burned out after an intense period of leading European operations for Trek Bicycle Corp., her family’s Waterloo-based global manufacturer. In fact, Burke apparently was fired by her own family following steep overseas financial losses and plummeting morale among Burke’s European sales staff, multiple former Trek executives and employees told Wisconsin Reporter.

"The FVAB website incorrectly stated ballots must be returned by November 16. The actual deadline is 4 p.m. November 9. Any military ballots received in that intervening week would not have been counted by local and state election officials. MacIver News Service contacted the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board about the error on Tuesday and requested comment. "All Wisconsin absentee ballots are due by 4 p.m. the Friday after the election. The FVAP site was incorrect.." See rest of article at source.

Gov. Scott Walker on Monday afternoon responded to comments President Barack Obama made earlier in the day about the protests in Madison: Walker’s office issued this statement: “I'm sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I'm sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts. “Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the...

Cartoon Calumny 'It's no secret that Jeff Danzinger is a syndicated cartoonist who leans left of center. But who knew that he also considers himself an arbiter of black authenticity? One of Mr. Danziger's recent illustrations features National Security Adviser Condeleeza Rice as a semi-literate mammy. Mr. Danziger forgot to put a handkerchief on her head, but the size of her lips has been exaggerated sufficiently to make up for that oversight. She's sitting in a rocking chair and nursing an aluminum...
