Apparently Boston Market got sued for not paying their employees in Florida.
That was bad enough, but they weren't paying their suppliers either. US Foods dinged them for almost $12 million. And I wonder if they were paying their lawyers - looks like that was a default judgment https://www.nrn.com/fast-casual/boston-market-ordered-pay-119-million-us-foods-default-judgment-decision for bad faith and failing to meet their obligations to the court.

Story may be a bit old. Most of the Boston Markets and a bunch Krystals have already closed; Krystal has gone through bankruptcy a couple of times and was taken over by SPB about a year ago. Boston Market is on its third bankruptcy filing. BM has gone from almost 350 locations to less than 30; hard to see how they can close many locations.
As far as Hardee’s, I ate in one last fall and the was disappointed - not what I remembered. And their only location in this are is a Carls Jr. located in a truck stop. So if the one I ate in is an example, I can diagnose their issue pretty easily.
I don’t see that as a requirement. Prior to this rule, the old rule was you could roll over if you traded up. But this is independent of a new purchase. See the summary here:
Consult someone who knows what they are doing, particularly if you have special circumstances (acquisition by divorce or a 1031 exchange; multiple residences; military or diplomatic service, first time home buyer credit, etc.)

they would have to pay taxes on any large gains
There's a $500k exemption for capital gains on the sale of the primary residence by a married couple; half that for a single filer. See IRS regs for details.

Entitled young people aren’t entitled to a 4 BR/3 Bath 3000 square foot starter home like they spent their pre-college starter years in. Let them start with a 3/1.5 1200 or 1500 square foot house like the boomers did.
Oh, wait - those smaller houses probably have 8 or 10 illegals living there with a couple of legals.

Conspiracy theory was that Freon was banned because all the patents had run out and the chemical companies needed new proprietary products. Of course, that’s hurt a bit by the fact that Freon had been on the market for decades by then. But I haven’t looked at various patents that might have been involved.
