North Carolina Court Elects Kerry – Twice (Reuters) In a surprise verdict in Kannapolis, N.C., in the case of J. F. Kerry vs. the United States, a jury decided that the plaintiff was a victim of PTVSS or Post-Traumatic-Vietnam-Stress-Syndrome...
  • Yesterday's Floida Vote Count Story - as seen by NY Times

They carried the story on p. 21 - not even a headline on p. 21 at that. If the result had been different (with a claimed Gore win), it would have been a 24-point-font headline on p. 1. (If they wanted to hide it from me, they should put it on their editorial page; I wouldn't have found it there.)
  • Dale Earnhart and William Clinton

What was Dale Earnhart thinking on that last lap at Daytona? (I don't think he had a chance of winning.) Was he risking it his life for 2nd? 3rd? 4th? or was it just for one more shot of adrenalin? What was Clinton thinking on Jan. 19? Was it about his legacy? justice? democracy? Or was it just for one more shot of HIS adrenalin ("I didn't inhale" "I never had sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky" "I was never drafted" "an 11-year affair with Ms. Flowers. That is totally wrong" "no single shred of evidence..." "the pardon application was ...
  • Bubba's New Office - the previous lease

Ten years ago I was Vice President of a company (then called RGTI Systems Software) which took out a 10-year lease on the 56th floor of Carnegie Hall Tower - soon to be EX-President Clinton's new office: 8,300 square feet at a then-bargain-rate of $50/sq.foot. At one point RGTI had about 50 people working in that space (yes it got crowded and I started a second office). Now, the follow-on company (TRW) has refused its option to extend the lease and EX-President Clinton is rumored to be leasing this same space (at $85/sq.foot of tax-payer-money) for 3(!) people. I guess ...

OK. We can pack the SCOFLAw court with 7 or 9 conservatives. Does anyone know how Jeb can make Sauls Chief Justice?

  • The mythical 10,000 Miami/Dade undervotes

    12/05/2000 2:15:32 AM PST · by RossA · 134+ views
Has anyone else been concerned with the descriptions of Miami/Dade processing techniques to separate these ballots, as described in the contest trial this weekend? Here are my thoughts; comments invited. Having spent much, alas! too much!, of my youth praying for punch-card readers not to jam while reading my programs, I can testify that card readers are annoying - even when used for an intended purpose. However, Miami/Dade went far beyond the normal use of card readers. Miami/Dade relied on special software to process a deck of cards and STOP the flow of punch-cards when an “undervote” was encountered. They ...
  • The Ballad of Al Gore

The Ballad of Al Gore (to the tune of John Henry) Al Gore had a tough election, The machine count he couldn’t stand, So he started in a-countin’ votes, ‘Cause he was a vote-countin’ man, Lawd, Lawd! ‘cause he was a vote-countin’ man. Al Gore said to the officials, “A man ain’t nothing but a man, An’ before I’ll let your machines beat me down, I’ll die with a ballot in my hand, Lawd, Lawd! Die with a ballot in my hand.” Al Gore started in a-counting Beside the votomatic he did stand. He beat that votomatic by fifty votes ...
  • Moonshine critera?

I suggest a name for Palm Beach county's new rules: "the moonshine criteria."
