President Trump said in a newly released interview he plans to sign an executive order ending so-called "birthright citizenship" for babies of non-citizens born on U.S. soil. The policy, which stems from a disputed but long-recognized interpretation of the 14th Amendment, has given rise to what Trump considers abuse of the immigration system. Trump told "Axios on HBO" that the U.S. is the only country in the world "where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits."

The Cherokee Nation's Attorney General issued an opinion that, effective immediately, will permit the tribe to recognize same-sex marriages, overturning a previous ban that was implemented in 2004. "Just like anything else in life, times change, interpretations of the law change," Hembree said. "The law that was overturned based on the opinion that I just issued, based on the plain reading of the Cherokee Nation Constitution ... and in my opinion guaranteeing equal rights for all -- it was not lost on me that I was personally changing my opinion and personally changing my legal position." Hembree added that he's...

Last night once it was clear Trump was going to win, they started whining about the Dow Jones futures being down by 500+ points. I checked a bit ago and it was up 81. Now it is up 145. Looks to me like it is skyrocketing thanks to Trump!

A 29-year-old activist who rose to prominence in the protests following the police killing of Michael Brown was found dead in a burning car in a St. Louis suburb, according to police. Upon putting out the fire, police found Seals inside the vehicle. He had suffered a gunshot wound, police said. McGuire declined to release further details, pending an ongoing investigation. Seals' Twitter bio said he was a "Businessman, Revolutionary, Activist, Unapologetically BLACK, Afrikan in AmeriKKKa, Fighter, Leader." Describing Seals as a factory line worker and hip-hop musician, The St. Louis American reported he was highly vocal during the Ferguson...

Don’t have fun and drink beer when it’s hot outside, Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said on Friday. Jarrett offered the advice during an organized Twitter chat aimed at advancing a Nanny State initiative called “Beat the Heat.” Twitter user @Mi_Astronauta offered advice that would appeal to most Americans. “Grab some beers and hit the pool,” Mi_Astronauta wrote. But the fun-hating Jarrett had another suggestion. "Actually beer isn't the best choice! How about a cooler full of refreshing water."
  • Bradley Manning (convicted prisoner) to get government funded hormone therapy

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hormone treatment for gender reassignment has been approved for Chelsea Manning, the former intelligence analyst convicted of espionage for sending classified documents to the WikiLeaks website. Defense Department officials said Thursday that the hormone therapy was approved Feb. 5 by Col. Erica Nelson, commandant of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where Manning is serving a 35-year sentence. The Army was providing some treatment but not enough, according to the lawsuit, including psychotherapy from a mental health specialist who lacked the qualifications to treat gender dysphoria. The Federal Bureau of Prisons and many state and...
