  • Sens. McCain and Levin urged IRS to target Tea Party, conservative groups

Right on the money. I've always suspected that McCain
took a look at what Palin had accomplished in Alaska, and
decided to offer her a “promotion”.
The promotion was a ploy to neutralize her before she
managed to take out any more of Mc Cain's probable behind the scenes cronies. He set her up , let the MSM attack relentessly, censored any criticisms she had of Obama.
I've always wondered if McCain dealt with Ted Stevens behind the scenes. Offering Palin the Vice Presidential
slot might have been his way of paying her back for taking one of his cronies out of the mix.

Disagree. Many of the gentrified areas around Atlanta
have John “Did I mention that I was in Selma?” Lewis and Hank “Guam tipping over “ Johnson as their representatives.

John Lewis generally runs unopposed. I saw lawn signs for him last election cycle in the old money, scary rich, guilty white area of Druid Hills ( the neighborhood
“Driving Miss Daisy was filmed in)>

The area that I lived in next to Atlanta went from
crackville to Yuppie heavean between 1997 until the present. The votes didn’t change.

It voted D when it was 85% black, and it still votes
    D. The demographics are roughly 65% white. Most of the gentrifiers are gays (D) and hipsters ( the same). The crime and grime HAVE been lowered dramatically. The sad thing about the area is that nobody but 2 income households with degrees past a bachelor’s can afford to buy in anymore.

My home sold for 97k in 1995, to an unpleasant,
militant lesbian. She neglected it to the point that it
was declared “condemned” 10 years later. It still sold for 200k. The average 2 bedroom box now goes for 325K.

If I’d stayed a few more years I’d have been set.
It’s worth the lost money when you don’t have to worry anymore about stray bullets coming through your windows.

I believe that Yahoo News is the absolute WORST of all main stream new sources.

Why? They are the fastest to come up with instant damage control regarding anything Obama or the usual liberals do.

If any conservative thought or statement starts to gain traction, Yahoo is on it within 2 hours.

    The networks,
papers, and even John Stewart are hours or days behind Yahoo’s instantaneous smear machine.

Now that Rush has mentioned Yahoo News, it’s way past time to shine a well deserved light on them.

    Anyone up for it?

Years ago, I was watching cartoons with my 5 year old son. An ad came on for a sitcom - ( I think it was called “For Your Love”).
The actor looked at the camera and said “Honey, I'm worried about my sperm”.
I started calling the TV station to complain. The person answering the phone fully agreed with me, but the person who oversaw the advertising was no longer working there.
I then called the TV critic at the local newspaper, and asked him how he'd feel if he had to explain what the
ad had said to HIS 5 year old. He agreed that it was offensive.
I called back the TV station, and told them that it was a shame that they didn't have anybody over their ads, but how would they like it if the AJC ran an article about unacceptable advertising during children's programming?
I never had to call back after that day. No futher ads for “For Your Love” appeared when I watched “Batman” or “The Animaniacs “ with my son.
  • The Upper Middle Class Is Ruining America

Here in Dekalb County, Ga, I’ve witnessed the upper middle class mafia at work for decades. While the rest of the formerly top notch schools in the county went to hell due to overdevelopment of HUD apartments, certain areas
    remained pristine.

The areas that escaped the HUD curse have public elementary schools that rival the best private schools.
If you go to a public meeting regarding schools in Dekalb,
there’s invariably some affluent turd that will get up and moan about hows this going to affect.... Fernbank, Oakgrove, Livsey, Austin, Vanderlynn, ( or one of the magnet schools that the well to do always seems to get picked in the lottery).

The same turds that complain about how “my area” (thats Mine! Mine! all mine!) is going to be affected
never express a rats ass worth of regret that everybody
    else is getting screwed.
Anyone lucky enough to have a home in one of the golden school attendance areas here can count on their home being worth anywhere from 50 to 200K more then the comparably sized homes a mile away in a crappier school district.
The upper middle class bunch attend meetings like
nobody’s business. Dad’s a lawyer, physician, college prof. The money’s such that mom doesn’t work, or do the mom thing full time ( that’s what the au pair is for).

Consequently, mom spends all of her time at meetings that affect everybody, but only the chosen few can get off work to put in their two cents worth.
I tend to disagree with almost everything Slate says. This time, I think the author is right on the money.
Finally, those home shows. Almost everybody on those shows, straight or gay acts like the world is going to come to an immediate end if they can’t have granite counter tops in their kitchens. Bleh.

Always wanted to see it. Found a copy at a flea market.
Watched it with my teenagers, sobbed like a baby.
I’m suprised no one mentioned “Kramer vs Kramer”.
I made the mistake of taking someone out on our first (and only) date to see it. Embarassed myself big time.

The best way to negate Sharpton in particular ( also Jessie ) is to have people posting pictures of them in public places.
Under their picture would be this:

” Has anyone ever met anyone that this person has actually helped?”

    Just a thought.

Bougie ( from someone who’s worked with some)

I know implicitly what Bougie is. Over the years I’ve worked with two bougie black coworkers. Both were basically nice, competent, caring people. That being said, I tended to avoid then when they’d start talking about their goodies.
The first one was male. Everything out of his mouth was what he had just bought. This is an actual conversation.
“ I bought a new Jeep. I was going to get a convertible, but I got the hardtop. It’s black, so it matches my BMW. I picked it up and stopped by the store to buy a new flat screen. I decided to put it in the back room. I now have 5 TVs in the house.”
This duded lived by HIMSELF. He had two kids. They lived in the projects with their ghetto mom that he’d divorced.
The female had a coworker stop by who deals in high end purses. She was showing one of my coworkers her new
    designer purse.
“ I already had one in mocha. I had to get this one in cranberry.”
    “How much you pay?”
“ The same for each one. Nine hundred dollars.”

It might sound dumb, as their family incomes are
much higher then mine, but I feel sorry for them. It must be torture to think that your worth is judged by what you’ve bought.

Has anyone else noticed that Progressive advertises more then anyone else? You literally can’t escape watching Flo pop up on the screen for more then 1/2 hour, no matter how much you change the channel.
That being said: suppose Lewis had a “gentleman’s
agreement” that he’d continue to pay megabucks in advertising as long the media continues to slant their stories leftward. Anybody being contrary might wind up losing massive amounts of advertising revenue.
Lewis is a guilty liberal. Money means nothing to him,
ideology is everything. I think he advertises so heavily to
blackmail the media into covering things in alignment with his worldview.

  • East Point housing: Today's line short -- and short-lived (Huge crowd for Section 8 application)

Geeesshhh are you displaying some wishful thinking!
I lived next to a section 8 complex for five lonnnnnnggg years. People knocking on my door asking for handouts, one guy came up to my back door during a rainstorm trying to sell me a stolen lawn mower.
A steady parade of booming car stereos all night on Fridays, announcing their arrival to buy drugs. And trash!!!
Bottles, litter, and (my favorite) disposable diapers, complete with baby poop in my back yard.
The summer before I sold and moved out they arrested 22
people for drugs one weekend. Out of a 48 unit complex!
Section 8 sucks, the renters tend to suck, and the persons that own the properties are guaranteed a reserved place in hell ( Which would be like living next to their rentals ).

I have a similar gift. I got an eery feeling about Obama
before the election, but it was from the stylized blue and red ads. I kept thinking that I’d seen that cartoonish style and arrogant pose somewhere before.
And then it hit me: it was a dead ringer for the huge backdrop of Lenin that Kruchez would stand in front of in red square while the tanks and tractors would roll by in the early 60s. What creeped me out at six years old continues to do so.

I view the Democrats and liberal’s view of “diversity” as
this: Going to the salad bar and loading up your plate on
everything on it but the lettuce. Eventually, the lettuce wilts from being ignored. When the people in charge of the salad bar grow tired of this, they remove it, and are roundly criticized for doing so.
Many of us old white guys don’t vote Democrat anymore because we started to feel like that same lettuce.
