In an all-Italian gold medal match, Diana Bacosi defeated compatriot Chiara Cainero to win the women’s skeet event. U.S. shooter Kim Rhode, who won the bronze medal match, is the story of the finals, however. Rhode became the first Summer Olympian to win six consecutive individual medals, a feat that had only been done by Italian luger Armin Zoeggeler. After the semifinal, Rhode met fellow American Morgan Craft and China’s Wei Meng in a sudden death shoot off to see who’d advance bronze medal match. Craft, the 23-year-old No. 2-ranked skeet shooter in the world, was ultimately defeated. In the...

I just got word that fellow FReeper and co-worker CougarGA7 had a heart attack over the weekend. I've spoken to his wife and he is in the hospital and has had a stent installed, and the prognosis looks good for recovery. Keeping him in your thoughts is appreciated. Those who are inclined to, a prayer would be nice. Those who know him are welcome to post such friendly abuse as is merited.

I need to know the percentage efficiency difference between an insulation R-value of 9 and 13. Putting an insulated garage door in and want to know what the extra buys me in terms of efficiency. And yes, I did do a pretty good web search. So feel free to post links and mock me. :)

We’ve all heard the “official conspiracy theory” of the Death Star attack. We all know about Luke Skywalker and his ragtag bunch of rebels, how they mounted a foolhardy attack on the most powerful, well-defended battle station ever built. And we’ve all seen the video over, and over, and over, of the one-in-a-million shot that resulted in a massive chain reaction that not just damaged, but completely obliterated that massive technological wonder. Like many Americans, I was fed this story when I was growing up. But as I watched the video, I began to realize that all was not as...

Hello All. I am new to this group; however I am not new to carrying. I have been carrying for awhile now. I have lived my entire life by the traditional Republican values (yes I said I am a Republican and damn proud of it!), the Boy Scout Motto of Be Prepared, and the motto Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. I carry six guns. All of them are Glocks in .40 S&@ caliber with Night Sights and are bone stock except for some wolf springs. I carry 2 Glock 22s on my right and left...

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A man suffered critical injuries during an attack by a pit bull in northwest Albuquerque Monday. The unidentified man was walking the dog when it attacked him. Police said the man was seriously injured in the groin area. The man appeared to be disoriented and fled the area on foot when police arrived. He was found naked in a nearby park, police said. The man was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital. Albuquerque police and animal control officers canvassed the area Monday night looking for the dog, and some of the man's body parts. Susie...

Who else is getting a hugh badly formatted FReepmail from Trolls? Here's the opening paragraph... If your arguments are so bad that the only way to defend them is banning others, why do you bring them up at all? It is not me who needs to flee. How the Iraq war changed international relations. The governments of Russia, France, Germany, The Vatican, India, Indonesia, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Greece, Austria, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Brazil, Chile, Pakistan, Malaysia, the African Union with its 52 members, New Zealand, Iran, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine and demonstrators all...

Andrew Heyward President, CBS News 524 W 57th St. New York, NY 10019 Dear Mr. Heyward: On behalf of more than 400,000 members of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association AOPA), the world's largest aviation organization, I am writing you to express our utter shock and dismay regarding the story about general aviation that ran on your evening news on January 14, 2004. It is disgraceful that "the news organization of Edward R. Murrow" would produce — and aggressively promote in a tabloid headline form — a segment on the prestigious CBS Evening News that was so obviously slanted, incomplete,...

Lionel Tate will get a rare second chance: another bite at the same plea agreement that his mother and his former attorney rejected before his 2001 trial for the murder of 6-year-old Tiffany Eunick. Broward County prosecutors announced Friday they would allow Tate to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for three years in a juvenile facility, followed by one year of house arrest and 10 years of probation. He would also have to do 1,000 hours of community service and get psychological treatment.

In his first interview with interrogators, former Iraqui dictator Saddam Hussein has admitted to hiding in the Hobbit Hole for months."I thought it would be the last place anyone looked for me," he said. "Like my hometown of Tikrit it's closed, insular. The inhabitants spend all their time talking to each other about Hobbits, Orcs, Gandalf, and Frodo. Sort of like the Camel market, only stranger. With my new beard, I figured I'd blend right in."Military officials admit that the thought of wading through tens of thousands of posts and replies in search of the tyrant was a daunting task....
