A Rock Hill man has been charged with domestic violence against his wife involving — the man's pit bull. John Louis Walch, 59, is accused of opening a cage that held his pit bull in June and urging it to attack his wife, according to police and court records. A 5-year-old boy has been mauled to death by two dogs at the home of a family friend in Southeast Texas. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the dogs attacked Tanner Smith on Sunday evening at the home in Vidor (VY'-dur). Tanner was taken to a hospital in Beaumont where he died. A 9-year-old girl died Sunday after a pit bull attacked her while she played with friends in a Long Island backyard, authorities said. Nassau County police officers responded to a 911 call at a Holland Avenue house in Elmont at around 10:30 a.m. and found the dog attacking the girl.
