The newly-elected student government President and Vice President at Clemson University are already ruffling feathers with a proposal to institute mandatory LGBTQ “ally training” for faculty and staff. Student Body President Killian McDonald and Vice President Jaren Stewart ran on a platform that included a commitment to raising Clemson’s “Campus Pride Index” score, which currently stands at 1.5 stars out of a possible 5.0.

Update: Clemson University has issued a statement saying the ban was the result of one rogue employee and that students are free to publicly display Harambe at their dorms. Correction: the original article said the ban was the result of an “administrator” but in fact it was from a lone staff member with an official sounding title. The famed neuroscientist David Eagleman once said: “There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name...

It started with Kahlua and coffee, the woman said. Then, she said, Bill Cosby asked her a question: “Do you like back rubs or belly rubs?” The setting was Cosby’s hotel room one night in the mid-1980s after the comedian had appeared at Clemson University, the woman said, according to court records. What allegedly came next follows a familiar pattern in the accusations against the iconic entertainer. The woman, an anonymous Jane Doe accuser in a 2005 civil lawsuit against Cosby, said she rubbed Cosby’s belly. That’s when the story goes foggy. The woman said she passed out. Her accusation,...

Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney should not appear at a fundraiser for a S.C. group that opposes gay marriage, the top Democrat in the S.C. House said Friday. Swinney is scheduled to appear June 2 at the Columbia event for the Palmetto Family Council, a conservative advocacy group that opposes same-sex marriage and abortion, and often allies itself with S.C. Republicans. “I find it highly inappropriate that Coach Swinney would appear at a fundraiser for an organization that is so openly discriminatory and politically motivated,” House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford, D-Richland, said in a statement. “I cannot fathom...

Clemson Lawsuit by: Louisa Tavlas, January 31, 2008 A lawsuit filed by a former Clemson University advisor alleges that he was fired after raising questions over the school’s increased tuition, according to The Tiger Town Observer, Clemson’s Conservative Journal of News and Opinion. Chalmers Eugene Troutman, who in May 2005 was named Executive Secretary of the Board of Trustees, claims that marked tuition increases since 2000 are not only unnecessary, but have overstuffed a rainy day fund that has grown to 80 million dollars. Troutman also accuses select University officials of corrupt business practices and mismanagement of the school’s financial...

A Permit had been granted to come onto the campus and a permit fee had been paid by the leader of the ministry team. Even though the team had jumped through the hoops and obtained the permit, the Campus police showed up and began to push around my son, Caleb, who was filming the interaction. One Sgt. shoved, blocked and intentionally stepped on...
