Old fence with a height of four or five feet has being replaced with eight-foot game fence in various locations in Crisp, Turner, Tift and Lowndes counties through small Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance service contracts, according to a DOT press release. Transportation officials closed a section of Interstate 69/Western Kentucky Parkway for hours Saturday after a group of cows obstructed the roadway causing several collisions in Caldwell County. Motorists would be banned from using handheld cell phones - a problem blamed for thousands of vehicle crashes and fatalities - under a bill expected to be approved by the Legislature next week.
