President Biden is preparing for a candid and in depth conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping when the two leaders meet privately on Nov. 14 on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, the White House said Thursday. It will be the first face-to-face meeting between Biden and Xi after a handful of phone calls between the two leaders, and the president had earlier said he expects to lay out his “red lines…and to determine whether or not they conflict with one another.”

CNN anchor Jake Tapper took a beating on social media for suggesting that no “national conversation” happened over the potential damage that school closures could have on children. During a segment of CNN Tonight on Friday, Tapper confessed to feeling “surprised” by the fact nobody discussed the lockdown damage on children, even though conservatives were rightly doing that in the early days of the pandemic. Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson expressed his willingness for a “conversation” on raising the minimum age to purchase a semiautomatic rifle from 18 to 21 and “AR-15-style weapons” amid fresh talks on gun reform following a deadly mass shooting in Texas last week. Hutchinson told CNN’s John Berman on Tuesday that he supported an ongoing bipartisan dialogue between a group of U.S. senators to potentially draft new gun control legislation. Hutchinson said one area the bipartisan congressional group should look at is “the AR-15-style weapons,” and whether the minimum age to purchase one should be raised.

A curious 4-year-old in Monroe, Conn., is going to have to get his doughnuts elsewhere after asking a Doughnut Inn customer the wrong question.
