As though that weren’t bad enough, 209,000 people had their credit card info...

I need to do a background check on someone...public records and criminal history. Will pay for a good search. I've looked at a lot of the web sites, but have read that some of them are scams. Has anyone used a good one? Any suggestions or insights? Should I just hire a private detective to do it? Thanks
