It would cut numerous programs Democrats hold dear, including the elimination of an institute for labor studies at the University of California. Governments in the United States take approximately 40 percent of the country's total income in taxes. In other words, nearly half of all the income generated each year is sent to governments to spend. The good news is that a growing number of people pay no federal taxes at all.
