Target has come under fire again after reports the retail giant is stocking ‘woke’ Christmas decorations in a number of its stores. Conservative X account End Wokeness was the first to post images of the woke Christmas decorations in Target, which included a black Santa Claus in a wheelchair along with a “pride” hat and a “pride” flag. Podcaster Tim Pool also confirmed that Target made “Santa in Wheelchair” available for purchase. “[O]mg its real,” Pool wrote.
  • Snowflakes! Woke Wisconsin council sparks outrage after instructing staff to avoid red and green decorations in public buildings and replacing religious ornaments with 'snow people'

A city council in Wisconsin has issued guidelines to its employees suggesting they do not use red and green decorations in public spaces to mark the Christmas holidays for fear of causing offense. The bizarre suggestion was put forward by Deputy City Administrator Melissa Cantarero Weiss in an email under the instruction of City Administrator James Archambo. In the email Weiss encouraged city workers to adopt 'inclusive decorating practices' in how Wauwatosa's municipal buildings are decorated over the holiday season including using more 'winter themed' decorations such as snowflakes or 'snow people'. The message specifically urges employees to choose more...

Starbucks has banned Pride decorations in its stores halfway through Pride Month, the company’s workers union revealed Tuesday, in a stunning cave to far-right anti-LGBTQ fury. There has been a wave of ultra-conservative pushback against companies that express support for equal rights. It started when Bud Light did a campaign with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in March, but things really kicked off when Target displayed its Pride swimwear collection. Target said it would pull back its Pride merchandise in response to the outcry. Starbucks is the latest to fall. “For the last two weeks, Starbucks workers have taken to social...

CNN medical analyst Leana Wen said Monday on “Newsroom” that cloth masks are “little more than facial decorations” in preventing the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. Anchor Victor Blackwell said, “Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city has not yet made a decision on if it will cancel the Time Square event for crowds to show up. Right now, you have to be vaccinated, and if they hold it. But for people considering going there or to the Peach Drop in Atlanta or any of the similar events across the country, what would your advice to them be?...

I’m posting this helpful outdoor Christmas decorating guide for anyone who STILL has not put their decorations up.Apologies to the blow-up Christmas decoration aficionados among us. I can’t help but think that’s cheating: putting up outdoor decorations should involve ladders, rappelling, superhuman contortions and great risk of bodily harm.Hitting the road bright and early today so perhaps that explains my hum-buggery. Or perhaps I’m just getting a jump on the Festivus celebration this year.Posted from: MOTUS A.D.

Exactly how “the sister-in-law Christmas Wars” started is no longer clear; the only thing that all parties can agree on is that it started off innocuously enough with a few lights on shrubbery. This is a cautionary tale so take notes and pass them on to your children. It all began when one of Raj’s brother and his wife (SIL #2) bought the house next door to one of his sister’s (SIL #1) and her husband. The first year SIL #1 put up white Christmas lights outside as she always had. SIL #2 thought they looked nice so put up some...

First lady Melania Trump hosted children to the White House Monday as she walked through a fully-decorated executive mansion, unveiling her vision of a Trump Christmas – simple, yet elegant, with elements of Americana and nature. 'She's beautiful, like an angel!' one young boy remarked, as the first lady – whose cream-colored belted dress with bell sleeves could have been worn by a tree topper – walked into the East Room to help a group of kids make garland. 'Are you the first lady?' another youngster asked. Melania Trump entered the holiday festivities by taking the grand staircase, into the...

SouthPark mall made a mistake when it chose to replace its traditional Christmas tree with a faux glacier, the company’s president said Sunday, and the controversial display will be removed sometime Monday. “It was a mistake, and we had to correct,” Simon Mall President David Contis said Sunday. “If we lose money, so be it.” Indianapolis-based Simon Malls owns SouthPark as well as Charlotte Premium Outlets and Concord Mills. SouthPark Mall shoppers did not take kindly to the mall replacing its traditional Christmas tree with the controversial glacier as part of its Santa display, so the shopping center announced this...

SFC Jack White, an Airborne School instructor, received the Army's second-highest military decoration Sept. 7 in a ceremony at the 173rd Airborne Memorial on the National Infantry Museum grounds. The award is for his actions June 29, 2008, in Khost Province, Afghanistan, while serving as a squad leader with the Vicenza, Italy-based A Company, 1st Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment. That night, White and 18 other Soldiers on a tiny observation post near the Pakistan border turned back an enemy force of 105 Taliban fighters who attacked from a ridge with small-arms fire, RPK machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades....
  • Candidate possibly embellishing military career with unearned ribbons & medals

There is a current politician and candidate running for reelection here in SW Ohio who is a peacetime Air Force veteran. She served honorably for 6 years as an officer. She never saw combat nor was in theater. What is troubling is that this politician goes around wearing a chest full of military ribbons as if she were some sort of war hero. She wears them on her shirts, jackets, and other articles of clothing at public events. She almost resembles General Patton. She also let's you know that she is a veteran over and over and over again. She...

Nativity scenes made of real straw. Wise Men 2 feet tall. Menorahs bigger than a human being.   Holiday display in Teaneck. In many North Jersey municipalities, those sacred symbols can be found at the same place people get dog licenses, pay taxes and apply for building permits — town hall.  The display of religious items on public property has long been a charged discussion in American communities, and the case law governing holiday displays is still murky enough to confound local governments trying to create a festive atmosphere for residents.* Fair Lawn for years just lit a holiday tree....

At least in this case study from Absurd Britannia, the backtracking began almost immediately. "Mother told to take down her Christmas lights... in case they offend her non-Christian neighbours," from the Daily Mail, December 16 (thanks to James): A woman has spoken of how she was told to remove her Christmas lights by a housing association worker - in case they offended her non-Christian neighbours. Dorothy Glenn decorates her home in South Shields with hundreds of festive lights every year, including a giant tree and a 4ft Santa Claus. But she was left stunned this year when a South Tyneside...

Over-the-Top Displays Inspire Loud Complaints, Even Rage; An Inflatable Santa Beheaded Jim McDilda's holiday display last year included a 28-foot lighted arch, a 50-foot tree, 50,000 lights and dozens of animated silhouettes. The spectacle -- he needed a crane to set it all up -- lit up the sky and drew thousands of gawking visitors to his Redding, Calif., house. But nearby neighbors weren't so thrilled. Cars, limos and tour buses clogged the cul-de-sac, and trash was strewn across lawns. Christmas music blasting from Mr. McDilda's display kept neighbors awake. They complained to the city, which required that Mr. McDilda...
  • (U.K.) New laws pull plug on Xmas (Health and Safety rules, insurance make decorations too pricey)

New laws pull plug on Xmas   Humbug ... Amy outside shop  HIGH streets face a Christmas blackout because of health and safety rules, business leaders warned yesterday. The demands of insurers mean festive lights are simply too expensive to put up. They say illuminations should be erected by trained professionals using a hydraulic platform, rather than ladders. Fittings should undergo a rigorous “pull test” to ensure they can secure cables and many councils are even ordered to individually test every bolt with a pressure gauge. The Federation of Small Businesses said costs for towns can hit £25,000...
