Ever since Bill and Hillary Clinton stepped onto the national stage, I have been struck by their lust for power. When Bill became embroiled in his first sex scandal during the race for the White House in 1992, one would have thought his presidential career was over before it had begun. Then, the country witnessed his wife on national television saying that people were telling lies about her husband. "I'm not some woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette," she said, trying to save the philanderer whom she viewed as her key to political prominence. If she had told...

An indication of what you go through if you live in New Orleans and wish to express your political views in graphic form. Reily’s been threatened, he had an urban radio station gin up protestors outside of his house, he’s had Herman Cain yard signs stolen and now he’s got a left-wing fascist city councilwoman trying to stop him from expressing his first amendment rights.

A woman has filed a complaint with federal authorities over how her elderly mother was treated at Northwest Florida Regional Airport last weekend. Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia. Her mother, who was in a wheelchair, was asked to remove an adult diaper in order to complete a pat-down search. “It’s something I couldn’t imagine happening on American...

The Brooklyn woman accused of stabbing her friend to death over $20 meant to be spent on diapers didn’t mean to kill the woman, a defense lawyer said Wednesday. Kayla Henriques appeared briefly at an arraignment on charges of murder and possession of a weapon – the knife she allegedly used to kill Kamisha Richards after feuding with her on Facebook over the money.

PHOENIX -- A new website to draw attention to tons of trash discarded along the Arizona-Mexico border has been launched by state officials hoping to stem the flow of refuse left behind by illegal immigrants making their way into the United States. The website, azbordertrash.gov, is also seeking volunteers to participate in cleanup efforts along Arizona's 370-mile border with Mexico. "An estimated more than 2,000 tons of trash is discarded annually in Arizona's borderlands," the website reads. "A variety of federal and state government entities, Native American tribes and private landowners are affected by the problem, and addressing it requires...

A Navy panel says the service should discharge former astronaut Lisa Nowak, who lost her NASA job over a bizarre airport attack on a romantic rival. The panel made the recommendation Thursday after a daylong hearing at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville. The recommendation now goes to the Naval Personnel Command. A final decision will be made by the Secretary of the Navy. The panel recommended downgrading Nowak from captain to commander and giving her a discharge of "other than honorable." Nowak was sentenced to a year on probation last November after pleading guilty to third-degree felony burglary and...

CINCINNATI — The Procter & Gamble Co. is aiming to make disposable diapers fashionable. Popular designer Cynthia Rowley has designed 11 styles of Pampers, including pastels, stripes, madras and ruffles. P&G said Wednesday they'll be offered in Target Corp. stores beginning in mid-July. Jodi Allen, a P&G baby care vice president, says in a statement that diaper performance comes first, but parents consider the look important, too. Prettier diapers will be pricier. A pack of about two dozen of the toddler-size diapers will have a suggested retail price of $15.99, about $6 above plainer versions. Pampers is the No. 1...

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - An Amherst man accused of trying to steal dirty diapers from a home has been sentenced to 30 months of probation. Dillon Makuski, 20, was convicted of possession of burglary tools. The Stevens Point Journal reports Makuski also must serve 200 hours of community service and undergo a psycho-sexual examination. Makuski was detained by the homeowner after entering an Amherst home last September. A Portage County sheriff's deputy found six dirty diapers in Makuski's pockets. The complaint said Makuski entered the house because he likes to wear diapers and thought there might be some in the...

Considering objections from Lisa Nowak's victim, an Orlando judge Monday denied the former astronaut's request to terminate her probation for attacking a fellow military officer over a mutual love interest. According to documents from the Ninth Circuit Court, Nowak was eligible for termination once she reached the halfway mark of her one-year probation period. But the judge instead loosened her sentence to administrative probation, which does not require the Navy captain to report to a probation officer. Florida law says administrative probation is reserved for a defendant who "represents a low risk of harm to the community."

Fighter pilots wore diapers and flew non-stop for more than nine hours to carry out the Indian Air Force's farthest and longest bombing exercise recently - symbolising the IAF's extended reach. They flew Sukhoi-30 MKI fighters to destroy mock targets in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A senior IAF officer told HT, "The fighters dropped air-to-ground ordnance for the first time on an uninhabited island in the Andamans. We want to exploit the location of these islands to train fighter pilots for extreme missions." Six fighter planes were launched from air force bases in Bareilly and Pune for the experimental...

MELBOURNE, Florida — A Florida attorney says a couple who were rocketed into the public eye by the antics of a former astronaut are getting married. Kepler Funk, a Melbourne attorney who represents Colleen Shipman, said Friday that she and former space shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein have gotten engaged. The couple, who now live in Alaska, have not set a date. • Photos: Astronaut Love Triangle Authorities say Lisa Nowak, who worked with Oefelein in the space program, famously drove from Houston to the parking lot of Orlando International Airport in February 2007 to confront Shipman.

CORAL SPRINGS - Change comes slowly in some places. In Coral Springs, the commission won't be so quick to force new and newly-remodeled restaurants to install baby changing stations in restrooms but the idea is still on the table. Vice Mayor Vice Boccard was hoping the City Commission would pass the "diaper-changing accommodations" law Tuesday night, but his colleagues balked after complaints from the city's Chamber of Commerce. "Now is not the time to add costs… to a business," said Chamber spokesman Bruce Weinberg. He said the tables could cost hundreds of dollars and there would be additional expenses for...

Overlooked in coverage of Tim Geithner’s and Tom Daschle’s unpaid taxes is the $70,000 that Minnesota Democratic senatorial candidate Al Franken has admitted to owing in back taxes, interest, and penalties. Last April, the California Tax Franchise Board revealed that Franken owed the state $5,800 in taxes, fines, and penalties because he did not file returns in 2003 through 2007. Franken then admitted that he owed more than $50,000 in back taxes to 17 states.Franken blamed everything on his accountant of 18 years, saying he failed to report the income from the comedian’s celebrity appearances and speeches in those states...

Your baby needs lots of love and reassurance and, as every parent knows ... diapers. Wrapping a diaper around your baby's bottom is a routine chore — but is it a "green" one as well? "Diapers solve a public health problem," says Chaz Miller, director of state programs for the National Waste Management Association. "They take feces and urine and create a safe environment for their deposition by incontinent persons. This option is far better than soiled pants or [pooping] in the woods." That having been said, which is better for the environment: disposable diapers or the reusable cloth, wash-and-wear...

At a business summit on energy, Politickerma.com reports, a prominent supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Mass., made a crack about Sen. John McCain's age. "These are the exciting last two week moments of the presidential campaign," said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., today in Cambridge, Mass. "So it's a very special time. I can't wait for it to be over. I am so tired of the press' silly questions that they ask along the way. And cable television which reduces everything to stupidity - the lowest common denominator of conflict." "I don't know if any of you know what it's like....
