San Francisco (AP) -- Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, who had his reality show taken off the air after getting caught using a racial slur, will not be extradited to Mexico to face a pending appeal of kidnapping charges against him, a judge ruled Monday. The U.S. government had been trying to send Chapman, his son Leland Chapman and a third man to the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, where they were charged with kidnapping Andrew Luster, a Max Factor heir who had jumped a $1 million bond on charges that he drugged and raped three women. Luster's disappearance...

...It would seem that Political Correctness gone mad has bestowed upon one Alfred Sharpton Jr. more power over media careers than even the FCC... I’m by no means defending the despicable language of the aptly nicknamed Mr. Chapman. However, on balance, his alleged transgressions are but words, no more, no less...

"Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman's son taped a private phone conversation in which the reality star used a racial slur repeatedly, then sold it to a tabloid for "a lot of money," Chapman's lawyer said Thursday. "I guess because of whatever level of anger he had of his father, he felt the need to express it in that manner," attorney Brook Hart told The Associated Press." "The National Enquirer on Wednesday posted on its Web site a clip of a conversation in which Duane Chapman, star of the hit A&E series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," repeatedly used the N-word...

Duane "Dog" Chapman is upset a $300,000 federal bond remains in place even though a Mexican judge has dismissed charges against him. The TV bounty hunter posted the bond and was freed after being arrested last September as he fought extradition to Mexico. He had been charged under Mexican law with "deprivation of liberty" for his 2003 capture of a fugitive convicted rapist in Mexico. Mexican Judge Jose Alberto Montes dismissed the charges last month, ruling the statute of limitations had expired.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) - A federal court cleared the way for TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman to be extradited to face charges in Mexico, court officials said Thursday. Norma Jara, a spokeswoman for the second district court in Guadalajara, said the court rejected Chapman's injunction request, ruling there was no reason not to try him with the charge of deprivation of liberty of Mexico. Mexican authorities had already asked for Chapan's extradition from the state of Hawaii. Chapman's lawyers argued he would not be guaranteed a fair trial in Mexico, Jara said. The charges against the 53-year-old star of...

When he learned that Rep. Tom Tancredo came to his defense, burly bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman reacted in a way one wouldn't expect. "I cry easy, so to tell you I cried doesn't tell you very much," Chapman said in a telephone interview from his home in Hawaii. Tancredo is leader of the "Set the Dog Free" movement in Congress. He and 29 other Republican congressmen have signed a letter asking Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to block Chapman's pending extradition to Mexico. "Colorado is our home, bro. We've done a lot of work there. I thought most of...

Honolulu — Twenty-nine congressmen have sent a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asking her to deny the extradition of Duane “Dog” Chapman to Mexico, where he faces charges of illegal detention and conspiracy. Mr. Chapman, who is the star of the popular TV show Dog The Bounty Hunter, was arrested last month along with two of his co-stars after his capture of fugitive convicted rapist Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir, on June 18, 2003, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Mr. Chapman was released on $300,000 bail the next day. He must attend extradition hearings to face trial in...

Dog may be in the pound, but that doesn't mean he can't go on with the show. Duane "Dog" Chapman, collared last week by U.S. marshals for possible extradition to Mexico, plans to chronicle his legal dilemma in a special edition of his popular A&E show, Dog the Bounty Hunter. According to the cable channel, the 53-year-old bounty hunter will tell his side of the story to his fans in a one-hour special titled Dog: The Family Speaks set to air tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT. I think it is pretty rotten the way the situation was handled, especially since Andrew Luster was in Mexico at the time and was probably drugging and raping citizens there. I have never been one to believe conspiracies, but there has got to be more to this. I think he should be commended instead of arrested. Leland said it best when he said something like, "We didn't take a Mexican citizen, we can and got an American rapists and brought him back to face justice."

Mexico - where bounty hunting is illegal - claims Chapman jumped bail after being charged with illegally detaining Luster in June 2003. A new special about last week's arrest will air tonight (10 p.m.) on A&E. Chapman, who is out on $300,000 bail, said on yesterday's "Today" show that if he goes to prison in Mexico, he will be killed by inmates avenging the thousands of fleeing felons he's brought to justice. "I won't last two days," he said.

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) criticized Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in a letter to the Justice Department in the wake of media reports yesterday that the U.S. Marshals raided the Hawaii home of Duane “Dog” Chapman at the direction of the Mexican government. A spokeswoman for the Marshals Office confirmed yesterday that an arrest warrant was signed Wednesday by a federal magistrate in Hawaii at the urging of the administration. Chapman could now be extradited to to face criminal charges for successfully capturing Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta in 2003. Luster, who was wanted...

HONOLULU (AP) — TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two co-stars on his show were arrested early Thursday in Hawaii on charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in an alleged kidnapping three years ago in Mexico, U.S. Marshals said. Chapman, 53, his son Leland Chapman, and associate Timothy Chapman were taken into custody in an operation involving 15 officers, said Mark Hanohano, U.S. Marshal for the district of Hawaii. They did not resist arrest, he said. "All three were very compliant," Hanohano said. "It went down without incident." Mona K. Wood, a publicist for the star of the popular...
