The migrant caravan making its way from South America has reached a border wall between Mexico and the U.S.

Is this another case of fake news or is the incoming left-wing populist government simply trying to play hardball with Señor Trump? Hours after the Washington Post reported that a supposed deal had been met to keep the Central American migrant caravan in Mexico as the United States sorts through asylum applications, Mexico's incoming foreign minister denied that any agreement had been reached and that conversations are still continuing. According to the BBC, "Marcelo Ebrard denied reaching an agreement which would see asylum seekers waiting in Mexico while their claims were processed in US courts." Likewise, the man who will serve in president-elect...

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have suspended northbound and southbound vehicle and pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro POE, ...and tear gas was apparently being fired from the U.S. side of the border. It was not immediately clear if any of the caravan made it past the port...

On Oct. 10, 2018, USCIS published its proposed rule, “Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds.” The public comment period is open for 60 days from Oct. 10, 2018, to Dec. 10, 2018. (Read our press release from Sep. 24 when the text of the proposed rule was posted on the DHS website.) The administration published a proposed rule that would make it much more difficult for immigrants to apply for legal immigration status in the United States. The proposed rule would drastically expand the definition of what it means to be a public charge, which could prevent an immigrant from maintaining...

The Trump administration is attempting to negotiate a deal with Mexico over the thousands of Central American caravan migrants camped out in Tijuana and Mexicali, and last night, announced there was one , with asylum applicants having to wait out adjudication of their claims in Mexico, not the U.S. The idea was to disincentivize junk asylum claims from applicants whose real aim is to work in the U.S. for a couple years and remit the earnings until courts get around to dismissing the claims and deports them. Well, until Mexico said there wasn't a deal. Which is about par for...

A New York Times editorial cartoon mocking US President Donald Trump’s orders to send troops to the Mexican border instead of fighting wars in the Middle East has drawn ire from Americans calling it elitist and out of touch. The cartoon, published Friday, shows a line of US troops in desert camouflage uniforms being ordered by Trump to the border with Mexico. One of the soldiers leans over and whispers to another, “I enrolled to fight in the Middle East… not in the midterms.”

Last week, Sen. Kamala Harris once again demonstrated her vitriol and antipathy towards an American law-enforcement institution. This time, she directed her leftist, anti-American sentiment to one of the most challenged, selfless, and invaluable institutions of the federal government: the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — and the men and women in it. In a Senate confirmation hearing for ICE Director Nominee Ronald Vitiello, Harris asked whether he shared the perception that ICE was causing fear and mistrust like the Ku Klux Klan. “Are you aware that there is a perception that ICE is administering its power in...

But some are growing impatient, and believe their best option is to plan a mass crossing. “Most of us, yes, we want to be on the other side,” Jorge Molina, a Honduran migrant, told Telemundo. “Some want to jump over the wall, others to go another way, and others want to wait and see what kind of response they get.”

The White House has signed a memo granting the troops stationed at the border authority to engage in some law enforcement and to use lethal force if they are in danger, according to a report in Military Times. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly signed the memo, which allows troops to assist the Border Patrol in crowd control and even detaining illegal immigrants, the paper reported. The memo appears to make good on President Trump’s insistence that the military play a more active role in preventing the migrant caravans from overrunning the U.S. border, as they did a month...
