May 1, 2024 Sky News host Rita Panahi has slammed “clueless” hosts on The View defending pro-Palestine protests at colleges across the United States. Whoopi Goldberg praised pro-Palestine students pushing against a “narrative” through their protests. Sunny Hostin also stood with the pro-Palestine students protesting in colleges across the country. She referenced a professor who was thrown to the ground after confronting the police. “Sunny, that professor was thrown to the ground because she hit an officer on the head which she admitted to as she was led away in handcuffs,” Ms Panahi said. “She was stupid enough to admit...

This is the second in a series of four articles discussing how the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act and other federal civil rights laws could potentially be used to bring a class action lawsuit against Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) for their coordinated efforts to harass and intimidate Jewish students on college campuses. See the first article here.( link) What does the 1964 Mississippi Burning case that occurred at the height of the civil rights struggle have in common with the plight of besieged Jewish and Israeli university students today? More than university administrators or the faculty...

The oral arguments in the Paxton v Dettelbach case, will be heard at the Fifth Circuit Courthouse in New Orleans on Wednesday morning at 9:00. Texas AG Ken Paxton is challenging the power of the federal government to tax and require serial numbers on homemade silencers which are made and stay in Texas. The case is bolstered by the Bruen decision at the Supreme Court. Paxton says silencers are protected under the Second Amendment, the Tenth Amendment, and the Fourteenth Amendment, and there is no historical tradition requireing American citizens to serialize and pay a $200 tax to exercise their...

So who is behind the kill-the-Jews campus protests that, as Steve noted earlier today, have panicked Congressional Democrats who fear a political debacle as in 1968? Consistent with the retro nature of the protests, the organizers appear to be largely left-wing retreads, with a financial assist, it is reported, from one or more Soros entities.Take, for example, Charlotte Kates. Kates has been prominent in the Columbia protests: Radical anti-Israel activists told Columbia students, “There is nothing wrong with being a fighter in Hamas” — weeks before the campus exploded in pro-Palestinian protests. In a two-hour tirade to the hardest core of...

It’s hardly front-page news that trust in higher education is at an all-time low. But what is overlooked is just how dire the situation is for small, private colleges with meagre endowments. Last year, for example, 14 of these institutions closed, the victims of plummeting enrollment. In the New York metropolitan area, some institutions have been forced to sell off portions of their real estate to stay alive. Such colleges’ plight is partially attributable to the falling birthrate since the Great Recession, but the far more important cause is the disconnect between what these colleges offer and what students want....

The Left’s winter of discontent appears to be transitioning into a summer of rage as college campus unrest heats up with the warmer weather. Well-funded and well-organized anti-Israel protests are spreading from one college campus to another. And they are becoming a feature in America’s Democrat-run cities as mobs of radicals have been able to shut down roads, bridges, busy intersections, and businesses with impunity. Unlike in 1968 when similar student unrest was eventually met with force when protests got out of line, most of America’s institutions have become willingly or unwillingly helpless in the face of this chaos. There...

Embattled Columbia University President Minouche Shafik said Monday that negotiations with student organizers of the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel demonstration had failed to reach an agreement. Fine. It's past time for Shafik to give law enforcement the go-ahead to physically remove the demonstrators if necessary. Besides, negotiating with agitators who carry signs declaring "Death to Zionists," "From the River to the Sea," and other such antisemitic vileness only serves to further empower the demonstrators. As RedState reported on Sunday, Columbia demonstrators are now demanding "amnesty" for their actions so their future career opportunities won't be affected. This is insane, and it would be...

Over the past few years, numerous plagiarism scandals have rocked the world of higher education. Prominent public intellectuals and university scholars have been caught improperly citing passages or even straight-up wholesale copying from other scholars’ works in their academic writing. The most high-profile of these scandals involved Claudine Gay, the former president of Harvard University. She resigned her position under pressure due to her academic misconduct, which involved lifting quotes from other authors and not attributing other writers’ work. Many of Claudine Gay’s supporters were quick to minimize her actions. For example, D. Stephen Voss, associate professor of political science...

“We’ll certainly never forget the dark days of June 6– January 6th, excuse me.” — President “Joe Biden”. The plum blossoms are ready to pop here. You can feel your blood rising. The evening sun lingers a little longer every day. Normally you’d celebrate, but not this year of roaring portents and evil juju. History doesn’t stop to catch its breath for a moment. The tiny glowing diode deep in “Joe Biden’s” brain dims a bit more each day (pause) while low men and women in high places trifle with the fate of the nation. Everyone dreads what’s coming. Which,...

The situation unfolding across college campuses in the United States is a complicated one, and bears reflection. I do not propose anything definitive, but I wanted to share a few thoughts. A Very Brief History of the University: The first question we must ask is “What are universities even for?” It is not an easy one. They began as institutions to train clerics in theology and philosophy, and evolved gradually into places for training gentleman scholars. Oxford and Cambridge in the 19th century did not live up to the model St. John Henry Newman describes in The Idea of a...

If you are up on the latest trends in academia, you’ll know that “institutional neutrality” is in the news as more universities consider or adopt it. In my view, this is a good thing, as it maintains the role of the university as a neutral arena in which faculty and students can freely express and debate a wide range of viewpoints constructively rather than feel stifled when their university takes a public stance on a political or social issue. However, there is confusion within academia on what institutional neutrality means and how to implement it. The free-speech organization FIRE (Foundation...

As the pro-Hamas protests rage on at universities across the nation, some of our enemies are laughing at us and encouraging the protesters to wreak even more havoc. It’s been a crazy period as mobs have taken over a number of campuses and are making tent cities, chanting hateful messages, committing vandalism, and causing Jewish students to feel extremely unsafe. Militias backed by Iran, however, are enjoying our plight and our mocking the U.S., condemning Israel, and egging on students to keep it up:The Sabereen News, a Telegram channel affiliated with Iran-backed Iraqi militias is inciting American students to escalate...

When you let a crazed, genocidal maniac talk long enough, they will always expose themselves. That happened on Thursday when two videos were released of a pro-Hamas protest leader suggesting Jews should be murdered. Shockingly, this is the same person Columbia University officials have been "negotiating" with over the last few days. Kymani James can be seen ranting about how "Zionists," which are Jews, do not deserve to live and should be exterminated like "nazis." A fair warning. This guy's words are extremely violent and disturbing. One of the Columbia students leading the “protest” posted this video stating that “Zionists do...

Things are getting out of hand in NY with campuses being taken over at places like NYU and Columbia by leftist extremists setting up encampments, like Occupy 2.0. Now a viral video has emerged that shows just how out of control it's getting. The video is from Monday night when the police descended on NYU and arrested dozens of students and even some of the professors after the students pelted the police with bottles and hit an officer with a chair. These were the folks that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed were "peaceful." READ MORE:Chaotic Scene As NYPD Descends Upon...

Once again, choose accurate language. That is not “demonstrators.”I have previously written about the importance of accurate language to inform the American public about what is going on. See “Covid” Didn’t Destroy Businesses and Lives; the Government Did. Language shapes the terrain on which the political debates are fought. Many of our supposedly “elite” commentators, however, do not appear to understand this. I see constant references, even on outlets like Fox News, to the “demonstrators” when describing the pro-Hamas supporters who are shutting down freeways, blocking bridges illegally, and occupying campuses while assaulting and preventing Jewish students from attending classes.Referring...

Rep. Ilhan Omar's (D-Minn) daughter Isra Hirsi was one of 108 students arrested at the request of Columbia University President Nemat "Minouche" Shafik. "I took this extraordinary step because these are extraordinary circumstances. The individuals who established the encampment violated a long list of rules and policies. The vile and overt anti-Semitism has made many other students feel unsafe." Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich) called the arrests "an unjustified suppression of freedom of speech. These students are protesting Israel's indiscriminate massacre of Palestinians in retaliation for Hamas' heroic October attack against the Jews' illegal occupation of Palestine. Instead of removing these...

The Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) recently issued its 2023 Annual Report. It presents an abundance of dire information about the therapy-addicted young people now trying to make their way through the wasteland of undergraduate education. I have read it so you don’t have to. But before I turn to its diagnostic particulars, let me indulge with the broader picture that appears nowhere in CCMH’s report. Virtually everyone, including CCMH, agrees that American college students are suffering an epidemic of mental illness. But why? Among the recent books on the topic is The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring...
