I was standing outside the state capitol in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where gun-toting defenders of President Donald Trump were supposedly going to start marching at noon. I could see cops, I could see National Guardsmen, and I could see dozens of reporters, but actual protesters were scarce. I did spot a fellow in a Gadsden Flag facemask and a woman whose shirt displayed a slogan about rebellion against tyranny, and as they passed behind me I heard him crack a joke: "I should walk up to the photographers here and say, 'Excuse me, can you direct me to the armed insurrection?'"...

OAKLAND -- A flier disseminated downtown is urging people to bring bats to next Thursday's Occupy Oakland anniversary protest, not to smash bank windows, but to "beat the (expletive)" out of anarchists and vandals. The flier asks residents to "stand up and defend the great city of Oakland" and specifically calls for violence against "black-clad" Caucasians that "use our city landscape as a canvas for their divisive and violent message." No one has taken responsibility for one-page post, which leaves no contact information. It claims to be from a group calling itself DOOM -- Defend Our Oakland Movement.

But, it is the former Tennessee Senator and GOP hopeful who has launched criticism of former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., who leads Thompson in the most recent Iowa polls. The fliers, which were mailed to Iowa voters Tuesday, tie the former Arkansas governor to another former Arkansas governor -- former President Bill Clinton. NEW YORK - Fifty-three years after he was shot down on a desperate cargo-delivery flight over Vietnam, a legendary pilot and soldier of fortune known as Earthquake McGoon will be buried Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery. The burial plan was announced by the Pentagon on Wednesday. Earthquake McGoon, whose real name was James B. McGovern Jr., was one of the first two Americans killed in the Vietnam conflict. New York, NY, Sep. 24 (UPI) -- The Republican National Committee says it mailed fliers to voters in two states suggesting liberals want to ban the Bible, the New York Times reported. The mailings include images of a Bible labeled "banned" and of a gay marriage proposal labeled "allowed." A mailing to Arkansas residents warns: "This will be Arkansas if you don't vote." A similar mailing was sent to West Virginians.

Campaign mail with a return address of the Republican National Committee warns West Virginia voters that the Bible will be prohibited and men will marry men if liberals win in November. SALEM - A flier the School Department sent home to parents about the new Salem Academy Charter School was "entirely inappropriate" and had claims that were untrue, according to the Massachusetts Department of Education. Several top state education officials reviewed the flier, which was printed by the Salem Public Schools and warned parents about signing up for the new public charter school that will open here in September.
