The DNS server should be working now. Woo hoo! Dumb-dumb out of date records error led to administrative hold. John finally got them to update and release the hold. Long convoluted story, but that's not important. What's important now is that we're up and running just in the nick of time for Wisconsin.

I am unable to access this website with Suddenlink, my WiFi provider. The only way I am accessing it now is on my tablet, I had to turn WiFi off and use AT&T. Anyone else being censored?

So I noticed a bunch of people have been able to find the trick to getting to FR using the IP in their browser, but can't log in. Here's a step-by-step guide for Windows on how to log in. I was surfing FR this afternoon and suddenly was unable to access any page on FR and the error stated the server could not be found. I located the IP address, 209.157.64.200, of the server and then added an entry into my PC's host file and I can now see FR again. I still do not see a DNS entry for FR, and that is interesting.

Seriously, what is the deal with the gibberish that substitutes for apostrophes when cutting and pasting text? Why can't it be fixed? It makes many posts virtually unreadable. Sorry for the rant, but I have not seen it discussed to any degree and it just seems to be accepted. Can someone please explain this issue and why there is no resolution?

I am finding that I got the malware page warning now every time I click on a link to the original source page. However, I am finding this doesn't happen if you click from the link to the story from the main Forum page, rather than clicking on the link to the FR story page and then clicking to the original source link from there. I'll be interested to know whether this solution works for anybody else.

Everytime the screen refreshes I am logged out of FR I log out constantly . Frustrating. New behavior. Not logging out of other sites on screen change. Do you not love me anymore?

When is Free Republic going to fix this bug that truncates the forum page?

About an hour ago someone complained that FR wasn't fully displaying on his computer. I checked on some longer threads as well as the comments display, and it was working fine for me. I'm using Firefox Beta 23 on Win 7. Then, I happened to update my Java to Java 7 Release 25. Lo and behold, the partial display bug appeared for me when I checked back into FR. The same problem exists when I use Chrome, so I presume it's the Java update that's causing the problem. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Search doesn't work. I reported it to the Administrator several days ago and as usual didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. I get an error in several different browsers similar to: You are not authorized to access the webpage at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;q=quick;s=Muslim%20man%20chops%20off%20his%20daughter%27s%20head%20and%20shows%20it%20off%20around%20the%20city. You may need to sign in Is it just me?

Just wanted to say, Mega THANKS for whatever you did to fix the servers yesterday. We were all worried about access to FR threads on Election Day, but it looks like you solved the problem. Let's all give them a hand -- and contribute to the Freepathon!

When I click the Search link, I get a blkank page (Firefox) or an HTTP 403 Forbidden (IE). Has Search been disabled to cut down on server strain? (There may already be posts about this, but I can't find them because I can't search. ;D)

Some good news perhaps. John says he has found a problem with one of the servers and he's going to try to configure around it. But it'll take him a couple hours or more before he's ready to test it. Hang in there. Prayers up that it works!

This site has been a frustrating disaster for the last week. What the he'll is going on? I can't get the page to load but 1 of 4 attempts. I'm about to give up, and I've been a member since 1998. Please tell me this will be fixed before Tuesday!!

It's been several weeks, I think, and the timestamp which gets put on my postings (and other fresh postings) seems to be about ten minutes or so ahead of the actual time. This can't be a time zone issue. What gives? Or is Illinois so retarded that even all its clocks are slow?

How about a post from FR on what the h**l is going on. Page loads are erratic and more often than not fail. How long until we can expect resumption of normal service? What gives. (I've seen several comments to posts also complaining about problems. I'm not having problems with any other sites, just Free Republic.)
