No more separate restrooms for boys and girls, with rows of feet-showing stalls. The North Kansas City school district is going fully gender neutral at two new elementary schools, opening on Wednesday, as well as in a few renovated restrooms in North Kansas City High School and the sixth-grade centers. The bathrooms still have an open alcove area with a common trough sink, but the toilets are enclosed inside individual stalls with floor-to-ceiling walls and lockable doors.

Spain’s Socialist government is seeking to erase gender bias in the constitution but the head of the Royal Spanish Academy, the custodian of the language, on Monday said the plan was unworkable. Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Carmen Calvo asked the Academy to study updating the 1978 constitution with “inclusive” language. “We have a constitution in the masculine which dates back to 40 years ago,” she said, noting that it referred to “ministers and deputies” with the male form of the noun. The traditional Spanish use of male pronouns and noun forms to refer to both genders collectively has raised...

A campaigner has lost a legal bid to force the British government to introduce gender-neutral passports. Christie Elan-Cane had argued at the High Court that the current policy requiring applicants to choose from the categories of male and female is “inherently discriminatory”. Elan-Cane wanted passports to have an “X” category, for those who regard themselves as neither fully male nor female. But Justice Jeremy Baker at the High Court refused on Friday to rule that the current passport policy was unlawful. …

And in the real world, boys will still make sticks and Legos into guns, and girls will choose dolls and play house-- regardless of how feminists and the LGBT community and the media try to push their twaddle on the rest of us The headline should read, “Boy Scouts Welcome Girls In New Gender Neutral Scouts.” How hospitable. The announcement that the Boy Scouts of America will be dropping “Boy” from the name and admitting girls is sadly not surprising, but is extremely disappointing. My son, now a toxically-masculine 29, was a Cub Scout, Webelo Scout, Life Scout, and third...

A federal cabinet minister says a directive to Service Canada agents telling them to use gender-neutral language — such as “parent” instead of “mother” or “father” — when speaking to the public was badly worded and will be corrected. The directive, obtained by Radio Canada, the French-language arm of CBC, instructs Service Canada employees who interact with the public to stay away from terms such as Mr., Mrs., father and mother, and to “use gender-neutral language or gender-inclusive language.” “This avoids portraying a perceived bias toward a particular sex or gender,” says a copy of speaking notes prepared for managers...

Aussie airline Qantas has copped flak for telling employees to stop using words like “guys” and phrases like “mum and dad”. Qantas staff were encouraged to use partner and spouse instead of husband and wife, and parents instead of mum and dad because it excludes some LGBTI families, according to the new advice. The directive came in an information pack sent out to employees from the company’s People and Culture Group. […] The information pack also declares that Australia was not settled peacefully; and as such, all staff should say “colonization”, “occupation” or “invasion” instead of “settlement”. …

As LifeSite News reported, earlier this month, “The Episcopal church in the Diocese of Washington, D.C., passed a resolution . . . to stop using masculine pronouns for God in future updates to its Book of Common Prayer.“The resolution to stop using ‘gendered language for God’ was passed quickly by delegates to the Diocese's 123rd Convention.â€To be sure, this is not the first group to move in the direction of “gender-inclusive†language when it comes to the deity.Back in 2011, I documented how some gay churches replaced God as Father with God as Creator in their hymns. And last year,...

Trinity College Dublin, one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities, has announced that it will phase out use of the term “Freshman” in favor of the more gender-neutral “Fresh.” Currently, first and second year students at Trinity are referred to as “junior freshmen” and “senior freshmen.” The school’s Vice-Provost Chris Morash and Student Union President Kevin Keane shared the news in a mass email sent on Tuesday. They noted that the change stems from a proposal from Trinity’s Equality Committee that “the title given to first and second year undergraduates students be changed from ‘Freshman’ to the gender-neutral term ‘Fresh.’” […]...

It’s why, at Powderhorn’s May Day Cafe, a small sign taped to the counter bears a polite request: “The May Day Cafe asks that you use gender-neutral language when addressing its employees. Thank you.” A similar note, modeled after May Day’s, went up next to the cash register at Taco Cat’s Midtown Global Market stall in September: “Please use gender-neutral language when addressing our staff. Thanks for being a pal.” “I think gendered language is pretty integrated in restaurant culture,” says Taco Cat co-owner Tristan Jimerson. “I’ve been working in restaurants for a long time, and sir-ing and ma’am-ing people,...

The official guardians of the French tongue the Académie Française sounded the alarm bell this week saying the language was in “mortal danger”. And it’s nothing to do with English this time. The so-called “immortals” at the Académie Française, the official body tasked with guarding the French language from unwanted influences (like English) don’t speak out often, but when they do, people tend to listen; and on Thursday night, the Académie issued a “solemn warning” intended to grab the attention of the government. The immortals are furious about the rise of so-called “inclusive writing”, which basically puts the masculine AND...

Jordan Peterson has a stunningly high “h-index,” a metric for measuring the quality of scientists beyond their publishing count. He taught at Harvard six years. When he received his last five-year grant for work previously approved by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, a government agency, it was “the largest amount ever awarded to a psychologist,” the National Post reports. But the veteran University of Toronto professor, who became a pariah last year for refusing to use gender-neutral pronouns such as “ze,” just coincidentally got his first rejection ever for a federal research grant:“I think that it’s...

For years male students wore red robes, and female students wore white robes to graduation at Elyria High School. Red and white are the school colors, but that’s changing for graduation this spring.
