One congresswoman's office is floating the idea of bringing pencils to next week's State of the Union address in a tribute to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper terrorist attack. "During the State of the Union, when POTUS talks about Charlie Hebdo and freedom of expression, every Dem stands up and holds a yellow #2 pencil in the air during the applause line. Thoughts?" wrote Eric Harris, the press secretary for Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., in an email obtained by National Journal that was sent Tuesday to all Democratic press secretaries. snip Harris said he received a "multitude of...

Moore was picketing along with protesters outside of a restaurant in West Milwaukee. WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) reported that arrests were made at the event. The nonprofit group Wisconsin Jobs Now tweeted a photo of Moore apparently being handcuffed. WISN-TV (Channel 12) reported Moore was detained.

More than a week after convicted felon and former state Sen. Gary George was expected to disclose who is funding his longshot bid for Congress, he has still not done so. Until George files the report, voters will not find out who, if anyone, is backing his longshot bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore, a Milwaukee Democrat. In an abrupt phone interview Wednesday with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, George declined to explain himself, telling a reporter he had no time to talk and would only take questions by email. “I’ve got to go,” George said. By email, George’s campaign...

Madison — Felon and former state Sen. Gary George will be able to mount his long-shot primary challenge to U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore after all. The state elections board voted unanimously to reject a challenge to George's nomination signatures and allow him on the ballot to challenge fellow Democrat Moore for Congress. The Government Accountability Board met at the Capitol on Tuesday to certify candidates for the Aug. 12 ballot. Milwaukee union official Sheila Cochran had challenged hundreds of the signatures George submitted on his nomination papers, saying they were collected by convicted felons, among other problems. Board staff said,...

Three suspects are now in custody for the theft of a rare $5 million violin, and one of the suspects has ties to US Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s (D-Wis.) son Sowande A. Omokunde, known publically by his alias Supreme Solar Allah. Universal Knowledge Allah, 36, Salah Jones, 41, and Latoya Atlas, 32, have all been arrested in conjunction with the investigation of the theft of a rare Stradivarius violin in Milwaukee last week. Furthermore, AP reporter Tom Bauer reports that one of the suspects is rumored to have been a barber of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. According to a 2002 story...

Three people have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a priceless Stradivarius violin, but the instrument has not been found, police said Wednesday. The three suspects — two men, ages 42 and 36, and a woman, 32 — were arrested Monday morning at their respective Milwaukee residences and remained in police custody Wednesday. One of the suspects has been linked to a prior art theft. The violin, crafted in 1715 and known as the Lipinski Strad after a former owner, was stolen from Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Frank Almond during an armed robbery Jan. 27. Almond had played...

Appearing on MSNBC on Thursday, Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) scolded her colleagues in Congress for failing to extend unemployment benefits for long-term jobless before they expire at the end of the year. Moore said that she hoped to see “rage” from Americans over the lapse of unemployment benefits in the same way Americans revolted over the prospect of intervening in the Syrian civil war. **SNIP** “If we can generate the kind of rage in the American public that we have seen when, say, for example just recently there was talk of going to Syria, I think we could get people...

Veteran House Democratic aides are sick over the insurance prices they’ll pay under Obamacare, and they’re scrambling to find a cure. “In a shock to the system, the older staff in my office (folks over 59) have now found out their personal health insurance costs (even with the government contribution) have gone up 3-4 times what they were paying before,” Minh Ta, chief of staff to Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.), wrote to fellow Democratic chiefs of staff in an email message obtained by POLITICO. “Simply unacceptable.” In the email, Ta noted that older congressional staffs may leave their jobs because...

"I am dismayed and disgusted that the Republican Party has taken their ideological fight over Obamacare this far," a statement from Democratic Rep. Gwen Moore of Milwaukee said, referring to the Republican's repeated efforts to link a short-term bill to keep the government open to delaying or defunding President Obama's signature health care law. "This childish act not only impacts thousands of federal government employees, it could also close the vital nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children, temporarily suspend government-backed small business loans and send a devastating shock wave through our economy." Moore implored House Republican leaders to allow...

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 19, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Although religious rhetoric is usually associated with the pro-life movement, one Democrat sounded like a hellfire and brimstone preacher while defending late-term abortion on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday. “This bill is an abomination!” said Rep. Gwen Moore, D-WI. “Plain and simple, at its foundation, at its heart, is utter disrespect for the dignity and health of women.” Arizona Congressman Trent Franks introduced the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” (H.R. 1797) to prevent atrocities like those committed by Kermit Gosnell and Douglas Karpen, who are accused (and in the...

If you want to hear what I think is the funniest, most effective political ad ever made, take a listen. You might need a little local knowledge to fully appreciate the ad. Gwen Moore is the intellectually challenged Congresswoman from inner city Milwaukee. Her son was the one involved in the infamous Milwaukee 2004 presidential election tire slashing incident where he and his thugs friends went and slashed the tires on rented Republican get out the vote vans. Gwen's latest obsession has been Scott Walker. She was all in on the Walker recall effort and held a bunch of rallies...

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Wisconsin Rep. Gwen Moore warmed up a Democratic crowd for President Obama on Monday by accusing Republicans of criticizing Obama for personal reasons. After rattling off the GOP's opposition to the health care law, unemployment insurance and jobs legislation, Moore said "they" don't like other attributes. "They don't like that he took his wife on a date and bought his daughter ice cream," she said. Moore added, "They ain't seen his birth certificate."

Keith Ellison, widely hailed as America's first Muslim congressman, could more accurately be described as CAIR and Hamas' man in Congress. Congressman Ellison has been a regular presence at CAIR fundraisers and at pro-Hamas rallies in the United States. As a former member of Farrakhan's Nation of Islam , Ellison has enough anti-semitic and Islamist credentials to satisfy anyone, and had expressed openly anti-semitic beliefs in the past. Since Ellison got his start with CAIR , his attempt to provide support for Hamas is completely unsurprising. Both Hamas and CAIR are projects of the Muslim Brotherhood, which also helped...

Two weeks ago, Wisconsin Congresswoman Gwen Moore rallied her fellow party faithful with a fiery speech at the DNC convention in Denver, Colorado. In her speech, Moore blasted Republican presidential candidate John McCain for what Moore alleged was a history of “anti-woman” positions on health care and reproductive rights. Moore’s own offspring, whom Wisconsin residents recognize as “Supreme Solar Allah“, is best known for his work as a political operative in the 2004 John Kerry campaign who was later convicted of slashing tires on Republican “get out the vote” vehicles. BadgerBlogger recently discovered a rather interesting photograph, featured at the...

U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., pulled out a pack of condoms at Wisconsin's delegate breakfast Tuesday at the Denver Marriott City Center. "I'm protecting myself against John McCain," she said, drawing laughter from the 104 delegates there. Moore said the Arizona senator twice has voted against mandating that insurance companies cover female birth control. Critics say many of those same companies cover Viagra for men. "He needs it," joked Wisconsin state Sen. Lena Taylor. "His wife looks a little

MILWAUKEE — A U.S. lawmaker's son and three Democratic campaign workers were sentenced Wednesday to four to six months in jail for slashing tires outside a Bush-Cheney campaign office on Election Day 2004. The men pleaded no contest in January to misdemeanor property damage. A fifth worker was found not guilty. "This case had to be a public example of what can happen when you interfere with voters' rights," said Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Michael Brennan, who rejected prosecutors' recommendation of probation for the four men. The Wisconsin state Republican Party had rented more than 100 vehicles to give rides...
