An online retailer that opened a massive fulfillment center near the Dayton International Airport this summer is doubling its initial hiring projections. Chewy Inc., a Dania Beach, Florida-based retailer that provides pet food and supplies, has already hired 1,000 people and is looking to fill another 200 positions by year's end. Walmart is hiring 140 full-time employees at its Hammond-area distribution center to support continued growth at the world’s largest brick-and-mortar retailer. The company already has 745 employees at the center, which serves 124 Walmart stores across the region. Composite products manufacturer Plascore Inc. is expanding its headquarters site in Zeeland, Mich., with a $6 million, 80,000-square-foot facility that will create 35 jobs. Founded in 1977, the company produces composite panels and honeycomb cores for the aerospace, building products, ground transportation, marine, military and recreation industries. The panels and cores increase structural strength while decreasing weight. The company is adding capacity to meet demand for projects needing machined aramid fibers and aluminum products. The parts are coated with a heat-resistant phenolic resin and used for boat hulls, race car bodies, aircraft galleys, missile wings and helicopter blades.

All Weather Insulated Panels, which makes foam composite insulated metal panels at factories in Vacaville, California, and Little Rock, Arkansas, will invest $24 million to overhaul an existing facility in Stroud Township near the New Jersey state line.
