When it comes to fighting the power, Prof. Mark J. Perry is doing it. He’s been filing complaints for civil rights violations against universities that discriminate on the basis of race and sex – for example, establishing all-women or all-minority scholarships or programs – because doing so, even if it’s for fashionable reasons, is against the law. I asked him a to talk about what he’s doing and why, and at the end he has some advice on how you can help, and an offer of assistance. I chime in with some other things you can do. 1. Please describe...

ANDREW SULLIVAN: See You Next Friday: A Farewell Letter. Apparently even faux-conservatives like Andrew (who endorsed John Kerry in 2004 as “the right man – and the conservative choice – for a difficult and perilous time,” in addition to the aforementioned Obama and Biden) are no longer welcome in the monolithic DNC-MSM. Sullivan goes on to write that “the Weekly Dish, which launches now, is where I’ve landed.

Patrick Harrington is sitting on a rock high on a hilltop...his head in his hands. The owner of Kindness Yoga, and one of the most well-known yogis in Denver, is struggling to piece together the words to explain what happened — in the span of a week — to his once-stellar reputation and his 19-year-old business. He is stunned, though remorseful. He is eager to speak up, yet on edge for fear of saying anything that could make all of this any worse. Harrington, a straight, white guy who expanded Kindness to nine studios and 160 employees across metro Denver,...

On March 9 a team of researchers in China published results showing hydroxychloroquine was effective against the 2019 coronavirus in a test tube. The authors suggested a five-day, 12-pill treatment for Covid-19: two 200-milligram tablets twice a day on the first day followed by one tablet twice a day for four more days. A more recent French study used the drug in combination with azithromycin. Most Americans know azithromycin as the brand name Zithromax Z-Pak, prescribed for upper respiratory infections. The Z-Pak alone doesn’t appear to help fight Covid-19, and the findings of combination treatment are preliminary. But researchers in...

It might not be worth the effort to deconstruct articles appearing in a magazine that sold for $1, but still–when I saw this Newsweek cover on InstaPundit, I was curious. I was curious because I am a frequent reader of Fars News, which is conventionally described as the “semi-official” voice of Iran’s mullahs. One of Fars’s most insistent themes is that the United States and Israel are allied with ISIS, and that Iran stands alone in fighting the terrorist group. This article is one of hundreds of instances of this fantasy, peddled shamelessly by Fars News on behalf of Iran’s...

OKAY, I WROTE THIS FOR USA TODAY right after the Barr press conference, but they don't want to run it because it doesn't incorporate the Mueller Report. Since I don't have time to read and digest the report this afternoon (I'm teaching two 2-hour classes back to back), I'm just posting it here. Enjoy!_____BILL BARR: ADULT IN THE ROOMGlenn Harlan ReynoldsBill Barr's press conference regarding the Mueller Report release was notable for both style and substance. On style, he reminded us that in an age of shrieking media hysteria and out-of-control twitter-pols, there is still a place for stolid, stodgy, rule-following...

The Instapundit, as he has after the past 3 elections, launched a new meme today for the Trump era: “They told me if Trump were elected, Washington would be full of hate-filled ignoramuses. And they were right!” His first entry in the category is a story about how protestors at Saturday’s Women’s March actually booed Trump hotel staffers who were trying to help a woman (marcher) who had a heart attack: Hotel staffers who crossed protest barricades to treat a heart-attack victim outside the Trump International Hotel in Washington this weekend were treated to jeers and anti-Trump slogans by protesters.Around...

Twitter temporarily suspended a prolific academic over his tweet regarding protesters in Charlotte, N.C. blocking access to highways. Wednesday night, protesters were reportedly blocking the interstate in response to the death of Keith Lamont Scott, a black man who was shot and killed by a black police officer on Tuesday. In response to the protest, Glenn Reynolds, a University of Tennessee law professor known for his blog, Instapundit, tweeted motorists should “run them down”:

The details on the Charlotte riots and attacks on motorists trapped on the highway and others are in our earlier post.Instapundit (law professor Glenn Reynolds) was suspended from Twitter (then later reinstated) after posting the following tweet as those riots and highway blockades were ongoing:Professor Jacobson has asked me to address whether such an act would be lawful as a justified act of self-defense. I’m on a flight now using airplane WiFi, so I’ll make this quick. (Before I go on, however, I should point out that Professor Reynolds has added some important context to his pithy tweet, and these...

Harry Reid’s jihad against the Koch Brothers has already yielded a hilarious video compilation (by the Free Beacon) of his 134 mentions of their name. But now with new information, his Koch addiction can become a potent tool in the hands of Republicans. Call it karma, if you like, but the former boxer now leading the Senate majority has left himself wide open.It turns out that Koch Industries employees and PACs have donated to quite a large number of Congressional Democrats. The data was right there on Open Secrets when Jeff Dunetz of Truth Revolt picked it up and posted...

Writing at Instapundit, Elizabeth Price Foley says she’s never seen anything quite like this blistering editorial. I have to agree. It’s astounding. Based on documents released by the committee, on the day of the attack the Pentagon dispatched a drone with a video camera so everyone in Washington could see what was happening in real time. The drone documented no crowds protesting any video. But around 4 p.m. Washington received an email from the Benghazi mission saying it was under a military-style attack. The White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA were able to watch the live...

Here’s the key bit: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.” When taking office, the President does not swear to create jobs. He does not swear to “grow the economy.” He does not swear to institute “fairness.” The only oath the President takes is this one: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve,...

Democratic Party front group Media Matters for America has been loyally defending First Lady Michelle Obama's luxurious Spanish vacation this week even as other liberals concede the Obama administration made a politically insensitive call in signing off on the trip.Today, Media Matters attacked Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit/Pajamas Media for his critique of Michelle Obama's trip. The headline of the attack piece: Michelle Obama derangement syndrome: Instapundit posts pic of First Lady as Marie AntoinetteNot only does the headline reinforce the growing meme that Michelle Obama is acting like a rich pig, but upon opening the article one is confronted with...

TEA PARTY FUTURE: LESS GLAMOUR, MORE EFFECTIVE In his Washington Examiner column, Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit writes about the future of the Tea Party movement. Reynolds explains where the real work is being accomplished. Reynolds attended the April 15 Cincinnati TP rally: "But although that rally -- and the hundreds like it around the country that day -- was a scene of great excitement, that kind of excitement isn't the future of the Tea Party movement. The future, instead, is something much less glamorous, but much more important, than mass rallies and marches." --continue reading. *** Big government spending is...

Hi, fellow Freepers! Sadly, been away for awhile, running with the wild right winger men and women of the 'net, but glad to back in action in these parts. Currently involved blogging at the fast-growing Threedonia, which I think most, if not all, Freepers would totally dig. We're home to active military, journalists, law professors, teachers, and beyond as contributors. We even have...

INSTA-POLL: Via email, I told Tom Maguire that if I’d known how entertaining the Obama transition would be, I probably would have gone out and campaigned for him. But my view is, like my sense of humor, probably skewed. Here’s a chance to express yours! The Obama Regime So Far: Better or Worse Than You Expected?

RUSH: I want to dedicate today's Dow Jones Industrial Average, it's at about 269, up at the moment, to the Republicans in the House of Representatives for their boldness yesterday. Greetings, ladies and gentlemen, Rush Limbaugh, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, and three hours of broadcast excellence, as you have come to know, love, and expect, straight ahead for the next three hours. Telephone number, 800-282-2882. The e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com. I was going to say, I can't believe how wrong everybody's getting this. Then I have to stop and think, yes, I can believe how wrong everybody's getting this, because...
