Megan Kelly was interviewing former Gambino family underboss turned FBI informant Salvatore 'Sammy the Bull' Gravano when she shared with him the breaking news of Caan's death yesterday. Gravano then claimed that Caan, 82, was connected to the mob and was present when the actor allegedly asked Colombo family boss Joe Colombo for permission to star as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather. 'He was in the mob,' Gravano told a confused Kelly. 'James Caan was in — was hooked in with the mob.' 'I was there when he came down and asked permission to be in that movie. I was...
  • Heading to the Caan Family Wake. James Caan is my Hero by Max Americana

I'm in a sh*tty mood today. I will be heading to the Caan family to pay my respects. There's only a number who were OK'd to visit, and I'm one of the lucky ones My hero and mentor in Hollywood. Jimmy Caan gave me one of my first breaks in the business. I dont want to say which series but I (literally) told him about my problem with a douche studio guy who wont green light my project when I already spent $$ on the first 3 episodes, and this was many years ago. One call from Jim and that...

Left-wing Hollywood celebrities are putting their star power behind the runoffs, with cast reunions of popular movies and TV shows helping to rake in the cash. The latest effort comes from Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel, who will lead a cast reunion of the 2003 movie Elf to raise money for Georgia Democrats. The livestream event, set for Sunday, will also feature Elf-costars Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Amy Sedaris, Jon Favreau, and Andy Richter. Noticeably absent from the line-up is James Caan, who played Ferrell’s biological father in the original movie.

James Caan says society is in a strange place ... because it's nature's way that men and women are supposed to be attracted to each other. We got the movie legend Thursday night in WeHo leaving Craig's, when our photog asked about sexual misconduct allegations against Morgan Freeman.

The closing night of the Tribeca Film Festival brought together the cast from two of the most important and influential movies ever made: The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II. Led by the festival’s co-founder, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Robert Duvall, and Talia Shire took the stage with their director, Francis Ford Coppola, to look back on the iconic films after they screened back to back for the audience. The discussion, which was led by director Taylor Hackford, focused mainly on the first film, which allowed De Niro — who only appeared in Part II...
  • At 40 Years Old, 'The Godfather' Has a Profound and Complicated Legacy

Once, it was thought of as the gangster movie to end all gangster movies. Before he played Don Corleone, Marlon Brando had been all but written off after several flops. But of course that's exactly what "The Godfather," which opened in New Jersey 40 years ago this Saturday, was not. Instead, it was the gangster movie that began all gangster movies, at least as we know them now: not just its own sequels, "The Godfather: Part II" and "The Godfather: Part III," but also "Goodfellas," "Donnie Brasco," "Analyze This," "Scarface," "The Freshman," "Prizzi's Honor" and "Married to the Mob," not...

Caan, who appeared in the classic mobster film "The Godfather", even offered to stand bail for alleged Mafia hitman Andrew "Andy Mush" Russo. He revealed the alleged killer is godson to his son Scott, star of the TV crime series Hawaii 50. The 76-year-old Colombo family crime boss was among the more than 125 suspected mob members seized in a series of coordinated raids across New York and New Jersey last week. The takedown was the biggest operation mounted by US authorities to smash the five crime families running organised crime in New York. Russo is alleged to have killed...
  • Actor James Caan Declares At Film Festival Opening Night “I’m Not A God Damn Hollywood Liberal”

At the Moet & Chandon’s 6th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival Opening Night Celebration in Los Angeles James Caan informed the Hollywood crowd that he is “ultra-conservative” and states “I’m not a God damn Hollywood liberal, I’m not.” After 46 years in the acting business, Caan not only speaks to his political leanings but also criticizes, quite snarkily, Hollywood liberals that consistently use their fame to push a political agenda. Caan, who was at the event promoting his involvement with the online platform Openfilm.com, also added that he doesn’t think Hollywood actors need to comment on every single political issue. When...

Veteran actor James Caan let people in on a little secret last week. After 46 successful years among Hollywood’s most outspoken liberal stars, he’s speaking up about breaking the mold. “I'm an ultra conservative,” he said at Moet & Chandon’s 6th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival Opening Night Celebration in Los Angeles. “I'm not a G** damn Hollywood liberal, I'm not,” he said, adding he only watches Fox News. Caan, who was at the event promoting his involvement with the online platform Openfilm.com, also added that he doesn’t think Hollywood actors need to comment on every single political issue. When Pop...

Warner Bros. today will launch a service giving the public the opportunity to custom-order DVDs of films never before released via the medium. The move is seen as a response to dwindling DVD sales and also to customer demand for titles that while not totally obscure, didn't necessarily generate enough heat to merit a full-on DVD release. The Warner Archive Collection, available at WarnerArchive.com, includes films dating back to the silent age and for $19.95 per disc Warners will burn, package and ship for receipt within an estimated five days. Currently there are 150 titles available with for a total...
