MORRIS PLAINS — Assemblyman Jay Webber said his politics have made him the target of vandals for the second time in three months. On Thursday, the Republican, who lost to Mikey Sherrill in the 11th District congressional race in November, posted pictures of shredded campaign signs left on his driveway and yard of his Morris County home. Webber said, without providing evidence, that the vandalism was done by "leftist thugs" on the same day reports surfaced that he would seek re-election to the Assembly.
  • (NJ Jay Webber) Congressional candidate: Parent to parent, I want to protect all children...

I was troubled to read a recent opinion piece written by the father of an LGBT+ son, implying that I was somehow a threat to his safety. Given the events of the last few days -- and the actual threat made against my seven children last week -- I am compelled to respond to the author, dad to dad. As parents, we can all agree that America must be a place that gives kids a chance to grow up safely, allowing them to be who they are and work towards whoever they want to be. Nothing in my record of public service undermines that...

The campaign for GOP candidate for Congress in New Jersey's 11th Congressional district, Assemblyman Jay Webber, R-Morris, said Wednesday that a threat against him and his seven children was delivered to his office in Whippany yesterday. A note sent to Webber's office warned Webber "You better hope you don't win! Or else." and then asked, "How many kids do you have...7? Unlucky 7." Webber has frequently incorporated his wife Johanna and their seven children into his campaign, featuring them in campaign ads. The threat, which arrived with a cut up Webber for Congress sign, has been referred to the state...

Republicans are running one of the state Legislature's most conservative lawmakers in the scrap to replace the retiring U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen -- a seat Democrats believe they can grab from the GOP in their national effort to ruin President Donald Trump's midterms. Now Assemblyman Jay Webber's congressional campaign is getting a boost from one of Washington's leading conservative groups. Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the conservative policy group Heritage Foundation, has named him as one of the 12 House Republican candidates it would work to elect this fall. Heritage Action said it would spent $2.5 million...
  • Christie at Morris GOP Breakfast: ‘We Can’t Live in Yesteryear’

Chris Christie has kept a low public persona since leaving the Statehouse six months ago, but with Democrats making much noise in his home county of Morris, the former governor couldn’t stay silent. “You’ve got till Labor Day to fall in love with Jay Webber,” Christie said at a Republican “unity breakfast” Tuesday morning at the Zeris Inn in Mountain Lakes. Webber just survived a contentious primary to win the GOP nomination to run for Congress in District 11. His Democratic opponent, Mikie Sherrill, already has a campaign warchest of more than $4 million. Zeroing in on what many see...
  • Sources: Webber Will Take a ‘Hard Look’ at a CD11 Run

Long expected to be the frontrunner for U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen’s (R-11) seat in a vacuum, Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-26) refused in a statement today to tread on Frelinghuysen’s announcement with the revving of his own engines. That statement is here. But two sources with knowledge of the assemblyman’s thinking told InsiderNJ that the Assemblyman will take a hard look at a run this year. “Jay would be nuts not to strongly consider it,” a source said.
  • Webber to Martin: Repudiate Your Radical Allies, Bob

“Whoever murdered Laci Peterson – a mother eight months into her pregnancy – is guilty of committing not one but TWO murders, and justice demands that the killer pay the price. That’s not just California law talking, that’s common sense talking. The question for today in Morris County is simple: where does liberal Bob Martin stand on this fundamental question? Does he agree with his allies among the radical pro-abortion crowd, or will he now stand and fight to protect the rights of mothers and their pre-born children?
