You would think some VP of communications somewhere would read my columns from time to time, so they could encourage senior management never to speak on any political topic, or even mention a political issue indirectly. The reason is that it guarantees that 40% to 50% of the country will disagree with the issue or opinion under discussion, and boycott that company’s products.

Breitbart News organized the boycott after Kellogg withdrew their advertising from Breitbart News, claiming that the site and its conservative readers were not “aligned with our values as a company.” The boycott, which has also taken place under the hashtag #DumpKelloggs, has generated thousands of posts on Facebook and Twitter, with the official Kellogg’s Facebook pages for various products being bombarded with complaints from Breitbart’s readers. “We regularly work with our media-buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” said Kellogg’s Kris Charles in a statement this week....

The Kellogg's cereal company is experiencing a backlash from Christian consumers who claim they'll no longer buy the company's products after it helped sponsor the Atlanta gay pride march in mid-October by using the beloved Frosted Flakes mascot, Tony the Tiger, in a pro-LGBT advertisement in the event's pride guide. "Wear your stripes with pride," the Kellogg's ad states, highlighting the word "pride" in large-font rainbow-colored letters, while Tony the Tiger stands to the right with his arms crossed and a familiar smile on his face. The American Family Association, a traditional Christian values activist group, posted a picture of...

Kellogg’s was a sponsor of the Atlanta Gay Pride March and festival last month. Apparently, Tony the Tiger wants to make sure you and your kids “wear your stripes with pride,” gay pride that is. According to the American Family Association’s (AFA) Facebook page, “[t]hey even put an ad in the ‘Pride Guide.’” Also displayed on the ad is Human Rights Campaign (HRC), who considers Kellogg one of the “BEST PLACES TO WORK,” due to its support "for LGBT Equality."

U.S. cereal giant Kellogg Co. said it would raise prices 3 percent in 2011, the same increase it reported for its profits in 2010. Fourth-quarter profits rose 7 percent over the third quarter and annual profits were up 3 percent, The Detroit News reported Friday. Revenues for the year dropped 1 percent to $12.4 billion. John Bryant, the company's new chief executive officer, said Kellogg would raise prices due to the rising cost of commodities. "The price increases are merely passing on a portion of those higher costs," he said.

Kellogg is rationing its Eggo products due to flooding and equipment problems at two bakeries. The shortfall could last through mid-2010. Better hoard your Eggos! Grocery stores will be experiencing a shortage of the waffles until mid-2010 due to problems at two bakeries, a Kellogg's spokeswoman said on Wednesday. Flooding at an Atlanta bakery during heavy rains in October forced Kellogg, which makes Eggo products, to shut down production temporarily, said company spokesman Kris Charles. Plus, equipment at Kellogg's largest waffle facility, based in Rossville, Tenn., needs extensive repairs. "We are working around the clock to restore Eggo store inventories...

While on the board of a Chicago-based charity, Barack Obama helped fund a carbon trading exchange that will likely play a critical role in the cap-and-trade carbon reduction program he is now trying to push through Congress as president. In 2000 and 2001, while Barack Obama served as a board member for a Chicago-based charitable foundation, he helped to fund a pioneering carbon trading exchange that is likely to fill a critical role in the controversial cap-and-trade carbon reduction scheme that President Obama is now trying to push rapidly through Congress. During those two years, the Joyce Foundation gave nearly...

Excerpt - Hydrox, the defunct chocolate-sandwich wafer, is returning for one more rematch with its nemesis, the Oreo. Bowing to more than 1,300 phone inquiries, an online petition with more than 1,000 signatures and Internet chat sites lamenting the demise of the snack, Kellogg Co. has decided to temporarily relaunch Hydrox, the left-for-dead cookie. WSJ's Christopher Rhoads speaks to Adam Najberg about Hydrox cookies, and why consumers are fighting to bring back the defunct chocolate-sandwich wafers. (May 28) "These loyalists can be proud to know they've been heard," says Brad Davidson, head of Kellogg's snack division. Kellogg quietly killed off...

Robert Fliegel was craving a Hydrox. The 52-year-old computer consultant says he always liked the way the chocolate sandwich cookie, which he found crisper than Oreos, "stood up to the milk" when dunked. But Mr. Fliegel, who used to be able to devour an entire package of the crème-filled biscuits in a sitting, couldn't find them in any stores near his East Stroudsburg, Pa., home. Only when he went online a few months ago to try to order some did he learn the truth: Hydrox is dead. In 2003, without warning or announcement, Kellogg Co. killed off the cookie --...

If you spend any time in the cereal aisle, I don't have to tell you that the folks who make Pop-Tarts are always coming up with crazy new combinations of flavors. But you may not realize that for every new variety of toaster pastry that makes it to the greengrocer's shelves, there are dozens of experimental flavors that don't make the cut. Here are some concepts that were rejected, for one reason or another. THERE ARE MORE! Please see More rejected Pop-Tart flavors.
