Churchill Downs announced Friday afternoon that it will continue the tradition of playing “My Old Kentucky Home” — the state’s official song that some have criticized for romanticizing the antebellum south — in the moments before the Kentucky Derby. A national group calling for justice in Breonna Taylor's killing plans to make its presence felt during the Kentucky Derby. Until Freedom plans to march on Derby day at 4:30 p.m. in South Central Park, according to a message posted to the group's Facebook page Sunday night. Planned racial injustice protests took a crowd of demonstrators past the gates at the frontside of Churchill Downs on Tuesday. The afternoon's demonstrations resulted in 64 arrests for charges of obstructing the roadway and disorderly conduct, acting Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert Schroeder told whas11.com. Maximum Security owner Gary West has issued a multimillion-dollar challenge to the owners of four horses that benefited from his horse's historic disqualification in the Kentucky Derby.
