Lucianne Goldberg died last week at the grand age of eighty-seven, and still the eponymous proprietrix of Lucianne.com, an early conservative news aggregator and one I continue to enjoy. A quarter-century ago, she became one of the most famous figures in America, as the confidante who persuaded Linda Tripp to tape her conversations with Monica Lewinsky and thus set in motion the impeachment of Bill Clinton. I can't claim to have been a close friend, but John Podhoretz's affectionate portrait accords with my own trio of brief interactions. She was tough, and she survived the Clintonites' efforts to destroy her,...

ucianne Goldberg was—she owned the term proudly—a broad. A grand broad—big, blowsy, sexy, and up for a good time from morning till night. She was the first and the last person I ever knew to spend her days inserting cigarettes into a cigarette holder and smoking them with relish like she was attending the blowout party in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She was my dear, dear friend for 40 years. It was Lucianne the literary agent to whom I turned in 1983 when I had my first idea for a book—a parody of TV Guide during the days when parodies were...

Going to Lucianne.com this morning, as I do every morning, I was shocked and saddened to read that its proprietor, Lucianne Goldberg, has passed away:Dear L Dotters. We are heartbroken. Our beloved Lucianne passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones in her own home, the way she wanted. But she has left a whole in our lives that we can never fill completely. Lucianne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a patriot who expressed her love of this country with both political fierceness and penetrating wit. In that part of her world this site became...

Lucianne Goldberg, one of the pivotal figures in the Monica Lewinsky affair that rocked Bill Clinton’s second term in office, predicts this presidential election season will be a “highly sexed” campaign due to the reemergence of Clinton’s sex accusers. Goldberg, a literary agent at the time of the Lewinsky affair, was in touch with Clinton’s publicly known accusers and alleged mistresses. Regarding those accusers, Goldberg asserted, “I believed every one of these women. … They were telling you the truth.”

A flock of (relatively) new conservative media sites have gained attention in the mainstream-ish media over the past few weeks, a function of their increased role in driving political attention and, in some cases, their savvy in redirecting Facebook's traffic hose toward themselves. Bloomberg's Dave Weigel notes a series of scoops from the Washington Free Beacon (largely focused on Hillary Clinton); at Slate, Betsy Woodruff explains Twitchy. At the Awl, John Herrman noted the rise of the Independent Journal Review, which "landed big" on Facebook. For all of this success, for all of the novelty of new sites with sharp...

  • Joshua Goldberg, a “Johnny Appleseed for conservative American blogs,” dies at 44

Joshua J. Goldberg (1967-2011*) quietly played nurseryman to scores of talented writers and citizen reporters. He gave us a rich soil to plant our blogs, then watered and weeded BlogsLucianneLoves.com (BLL) until our sites sprouted roots and branches, and blossomed with fruit. Josh was a Johnny Appleseed for conservative American blogs. His tragic death was reported today. John Chapman, a.k.a. Johnny Appleseed, did not, as many people believe, plant apple trees by tossing seeds hither and yon. He actually started nurseries where sapling apple trees were nurtured until they could be sold to people who wanted to grow their own...

Since it’s out there on the web, I thought I should acknowledge the sad news here. My older — and only — brother passed away this week. He hurt himself terribly in an accident and he died at the hospital a few days later. He was 43. I received word in Israel and raced home in time to say goodbye. His wife, Chantal, and I were there at the end. He felt no pain. I can’t say the same for anybody else in my family.

Not much misses the eagle eye of Lucianne Goldberg, plain "Lucianne" or "Lucy" to a generation of up and coming Internet journalists. Having made her mark as a journalist, literary agent, radio presenter and as chief catalyst behind the one-woman run Lucianne.com, the New York resident stands down to no one. The woman who once caught slippery fish Bill Clinton in her net by helping Linda Tripp tape-record Clinton’s mistress Monica Lewinsky, lands a lot of fish swimming in foreign ponds. Thanks to the perspicacious Lucianne comes the Dana Priest-William Goodfellow-Center for International Policy (CIP) connection. Washington Post National Security...

This lovely post was written on NRO's The Corner by John Podhoretz. -Lucianne Goldberg SIDNEY GOLDBERG Kind, friendly, amusing, amused, thoughtful, loving, clever, dapper, jaunty, principled, intellectually engaged, politically astute, wise. We feel we are serving our readers by posting articles but not allowing threads for comment. By doing this we save our members from themselves and preserve their ability to post.If subject is introduced on threads that are not about the Sciavo story they will be deleted.

Sunday Nov. 23, 2003; 9:12 a.m. EST Hillary's Lawyer Denies Pellicano Link New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's Washington scandal attorney David Kendall is denying that recently jailed tough guy-investigator Anthony Pellicano ever worked for the Clintons, a claim directly contradicted by senior Bush White House advisor Mary Matalin - and not even denied by Pellicano himself. Kendall told the New York Daily News on Friday that reports linking the former first lady with the controversial gumshoe, who was jailed last Monday on weapons and explosives charges, are "politically motivated and utterly false." What's more, the News suggests that "right wing...

Only hours after the news broke, Katie Couric thought Rush Limbaugh's drug problem was funny. So funny as a matter of fact, that she made up a story about sitting next to him on the plane and asking for an aspirin - you get the rest. She told it with a baby-girl hair flip. It wasn't funny. During the Democrat debate last week, John Kerry thought Rush's pain was funny and took a shot. That wasn't funny either. For hard-pressed liberals, merchandising Rush Limbaugh's admitted pill addiction will be an interesting test of individual sensitivity and a telling reality check...
