TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - John McCain is reuniting with his former running mate Sarah Palin, but not all Palin fans are happy about it. A handful of Palin supporters have set up outside a rally in Tucson featuring McCain and Palin. Former congressman and conservative talk-radio host JD Hayworth has launched a primary challenge to McCain saying the four-term Arizona senator isn't conservative enough for Arizona voters. Jennifer Leslie of Oro Valley, Ariz., says she's an avid Palin fan but will be voting for Hayworth in the August primary.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) may be working with the White House to craft an immigration reform proposal, but you wouldn't know it from his comments Sunday morning. The South Carolina Republican had no kind words for the president's efforts on the topic, accusing him of ignoring immigration and paying lip service only for temporary political reasons. Graham laughed off the president's claim that he's been "unwavering" in his support for immigration overhaul. "This idea that the president has been unwavering on immigration doesn't really pass the smell test," Graham said on ABC's "This Week." Graham, who has been invited to...

On the same day the anti-illegal immigration group Americans for Legal Immigration endorsed former Congressman J.D. Hayworth in his bid to unseat Senator John McCain as the GOP candidate for Senate, the McCain campaign is calling on Hayworth to disavow the endorsement. "J.D. Hayworth's lavish praise for the social theories of noted anti-Semite and xenophobe Henry Ford sparked a major controversy during his losing 2006 campaign, causing many Arizonans to question Mr. Hayworth's judgment. It is astounding that Mr. Hayworth would today accept the endorsement of a group that the Anti-Defamation League reports is backed by white supremacists, neo-Nazis and...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Here's Don in Prescott, Arizona, great to have you on the Rush Limbaugh program. CALLER: Pleasure to speak with you, Rush. RUSH: Yes, sir. CALLER: My question is in regards to Sarah Palin's support of John McCain in the Arizona senatorial race. She's allied herself with the tea party movement, but I can assure you, the Arizona tea party folks are not supporting John McCain. The chair of the Maricopa Republican Party -- you may have of heard this last week -- went on the news last week and stated that he doesn't even regard John McCain...
  • AZ-Sen. 2010: State GOP looking to close its primary to independents (impact on McCain?)

Lawyers for the state Republican Party are huddling to try to find out how they can close their primary election. Republican leaders who attended a mandatory state meeting last month voted to put a halt to the state's quasi-open primary system. Voters in 1998 approved allowing independents and voters in minor parties to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary. The move is coming at a time of heightened interest in the Republican primary. The Democratic ballot will be relatively tame compared with the GOP, where voters will make picks in high-profile races, like the McCain-Hayworth Senate match, and the...
