On November 28, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer signed bills that will revamp electricity generation in the state. The new measures include a requirement for utilities to achieve a 100% clean energy standard by 2040. The measures also transfer authority over large-scale wind and solar projects from local governments to the state’s Public Service Commission. Whitmer emphasized that Michigan is well-equipped, both in terms of its workforce and the newly enacted legislation, to foster robust economic growth in the clean energy sector. The impact of the new laws will be felt in areas such as project locations, electricity sources, and power...

Now that state legislators have adjourned two months early for the year, the Michigan primary election will be held on February 27, 2024, putting the Republican primary in violation of Republican National Convention (RNC) rules so that Michigan delegates will no longer be counted towards the winner of the Republican National Convention. To stem a competition between states to move the primaries earlier and earlier, the RNC established a longstanding rule that only New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada, and South Carolina can hold their primaries prior to March 1, as those states have done so for decades. The penalty set by...

Is Michigan’s bitter, lesbian AG Dana Nessel’s time running out? It’s possible, but it won’t be a walk in the park. Republicans, currently the minority, have just filed impeachment articles against Nessel. They’re accusing her of abusing her authority to target her enimies and shield the regime. So, will Michigan’s TDS-infected DA face impeachment? Time will tell, though it’s certainly an uphill battle. The Midwesterner: In what legislative insiders indicate is a longshot, eight Michigan House Republicans announced they’re seeking the impeachment of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Rep. James DeSana, R-Carlton, announced Thursday he and his colleagues had filed...

A consultant for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D., Mich.) used a coded message in a "calculated" effort to "conceal" from the public record sensitive communications regarding the administration's response to a local water crisis in Michigan, according to a lawsuit. Michigan energy department consultant Andy Leavitt in September 2021 emailed a top adviser to Whitmer to express "some major red flags" with the administration's response to a lead water crisis in southwestern Michigan, which Leavitt compared to a similar crisis in Flint, Michigan. But Leavitt's initial message was not written in English—the consultant used letters in the Greek alphabet in place...

Last week, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced charges against 16 Trump electors who submitted their votes as alternates amidst belief that there would be an honest investigation into the 2020 election. The charges include forgery, election fraud, and conspiracy. The Gateway Pundit published a video where the electors publicly called their votes a “back up slate” and affirmed, “this is not a replacement.” Their actions were to give a “life vote” to Michigan legislators under the presumption that there would be an honest investigation/audit of the Michigan election, especially in Wayne County, where canvassers initially refused to certify the...

The state of Michigan is currently investigating a horse farm after its owner held a rally against the building of an electric vehicle battery component plant that will be built by Gotion, a subsidiary of the Chinese company Guoxuan High-Tech Co. Proposed CCP-tied Gotion battery plant - The MI Republican Party has long taken issue with Gotion, which has ties to the CCP. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed two new gun control measures in response to the February 13, 2023, Michigan State University shooting, neither of which would have prevented that shooting from taking place. The Detroit News reported that one of the bills is universal background check legislation. The other is a gun storage law. Michigan already has a law requiring a background check for a handgun via a permitting process. The newly signed legislation expands that to cover long guns too.

Michigan’s Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed into law Wednesday a repeal of the state’s near-total abortion ban, guaranteeing that abortion-on-demand will remain legal for the foreseeable future. The Associated Press reports that the new law repeals a statute dating back to 1931 that made abortion a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. It was rendered unenforceable in 1973 with the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling, which the Court reversed last June in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. “Today, we’re going to take action to make sure that our statutes and our laws reflect our...
