On many occasions, I will be working on a previously-saved Word document. Normally, after I make changes and save, it simply gets saved--that is, I get NO window to name the file, because the file already exists. Sometimes, however, when I save such an open, already-created file, the name of the file suddenly changes to be a work file. At the same time, I get the window and dialog for saving a file and specifying a location. I then have to re-save that file, because if I don't, I lose not only that work file but also the previously-saved file...

But, I've been reporting on IP (intellectual property) law issues for years now, so I know something about how these issues are resolved, and when I see that one attorney thinks there's an "easy technical work-around" for Microsoft's patent violation in Word, my alarm bells go off. I am looking, in Word 2002, at a document that has several words and letters "highlighted." The color of all the text, including the highlighted text, is black. The document looks the same regardless of whether I am in final-showing-markup or final. Tracking is disabled. The "highlighted" text is red. It looks as though someone "Selected" the text (which normally would turn the text background black, and the text white, of course), then did something to turn that background red. My very conservative lurker brother needs advice for his classroom science lectures. He wants to put all his Microsoft Word lessons onto PowerPoint. When he copies a hundred pages and tries to paste them onto a suitably long PP file, all pages are crammed onto the first slide. Cutting and pasting small sections will take him hundreds of hours. Hi, I was hoping someone knows a way to recover a document in Microsoft Word. When the pc shut down improperly, Word saved a copy of the document as it was at the time I shut down, and it asked me if I wanted to view it again. I clicked on the wrong button and the document was replaced--meaning I'd lost hours of work (and I know, I had saved, but I can't seem to find this document anywhere. I have no idea what I did, if I saved it under some other file, or what). I don't know if...

How do you remove a line ______________________________ like this, that has become bolded because two lines connected? I've been trying to get the darn thing off a saved Microsoft document and just can't figure any way to get rid of it. Thank you for your suggestions.

My analysis as a user and teacher of Microsoft Word of why some number letter combinations in the forged National Guard Memos are superscripted and some are not: Summary : There were three different types of apparent number/letter combinations in the memos, and they were all formatted in a way consistent with the default AutoFormat As You Type (AAYT) rules of Microsoft Word: "187th" and "111th" - text that DID follow the rules of AAYT and were automatically reformatted.
