An Uber driver begged for her life and pleaded that she had four children before a Penn Hills man fatally shot her, according to a transcript of dashcam video. Allegheny County police on Wednesday night charged Calvin Crew, 22, with killing of 38-year-old Christi Spicuzza, who was found dead in Monroeville this weekend. Mr. Crew is charged with criminal homicide, robbery and tampering with evidence. In a criminal complaint, police described how Mr. Crew allegedly used his girlfriend's phone to order an Uber and held a gun to Ms. Spicuzza’s head as she begged him to reconsider. On a video...

Seven lawsuits were filed against Giant Eagle on Tuesday, alleging the supermarket chain’s mask policy violates the Americans With Disabilities Act. One of the plaintiffs is Nicholas Conley, of Verona, who said he was told to leave the Monroeville store on May 1 because he wasn’t wearing a mask, although he had a medical excuse. Conley shot video of the incident on his phone. Police were called and Conley was charged with causing a disturbance and other offenses. Conley said a Giant Eagle worker told him his medical excuse was “fake.” Gov. Tom Wolf ordered masks to be worn in...

Two startling revelations about long-hidden work by "To Kill a Mockingbird" author Harper Lee have stunned readers awaiting Tuesday's release of her new book, "Go Set a Watchman." Lee's attorney, Tonja Carter, hinted Monday in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that the reclusive author may have written a third novel. Carter wrote that she recently examined the contents of a safe-deposit box in Lee's hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, and saw the manuscript for "Watchman" lying "underneath a stack of a significant number of pages of another typed text." "Was it an earlier draft of 'Watchman,' or of 'Mockingbird,'...

Responding to a mall-wide brawl in December and a triple shooting in a Macy's department store Saturday night, officials at Monroeville Mall say teens visiting on weekend nights soon will need to be accompanied by an adult. Monroeville Mayor Gregory Erosenko said he will reopen a police substation inside the mall that had been closed for a couple of years. “We aren't going to tolerate this at all,” Erosenko said. But District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala said officials have long known trouble was on the way. A consultant hired by the District Attorney's Office urged mall officials to upgrade security...

We to Monroville Mall about an hour ago. There were three ambulances and a few cops cars outside one of the Macy's entrances....I parked at an adjacent Macy's entrance. As I put the car in park and grabbed my purse, I noticed large numbers of people streaming from all the exits in my view, and the cars around mine suddenly came to live & drove off. I got my 7 year old out and was heading inside when a nice, older blonde lady with broken English said "don't go in....they shoot". As soon as we returned to the car, massive...

Police say a person stole Monroeville Mall merchandise and was seen on video hitting a 17-year-old employee who confronted her. First, the girl shoplifted at Hollister on Thursday, police said. Then, the video shows her holding the worker's hair, hitting her with a purse and kicking her after the employee followed her outside the store and onto the mall floor. "Certainly, it looks pretty shocking on the video," Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said. "The young lady was being assaulted, as you can see, struck and kicked. That's at least a simple assault." Police said the suspect will also be...

MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- Stephanie Kelley, of Trafford, has been a weekly customer of McDain's Restaurant and Golf Center. Not any more. The eatery on Broadway Boulevard in Monroeville has decided to stop admitting young children, and she's the mother of a toddler. "I can't believe this. I am offended. This is just an ignorant policy," Kelley told Team 4 investigator Jim Parsons. In an email sent to loyal McDain's customers, owner Mike Vuick wrote, "Beginning July 16, 2011, McDain's Restaurant will no longer admit children under six years of age. We feel that McDain's is not a place for young...
